The car looks very good, if they kill Saturn, with the Vue out of the way, it has big chances to sell very well.

I'm actually quite impressed with this car. Nice one Cadillac! Finally a worthy American crossover to compete with its German and Japanese counterparts. Not quite as refined, but it is evident Cadillac learned some things from the CTS. It's just the front that looks too big and awkward.
One thing I don't agree with is the Safety & Comfort over Power & Economy thing. Car accidents are relatively few compared to all those cars out there, and I think economy and performance are what people look for more than safety, which is why I don't necessarily like cars designed with safety as a priority. I agree with the article; I don't think the 260hp 3.0 will do it for this car. But overall, nice design. Proves that GM has the potential to break out of its cycle of feeble/mediocre vehicles.

reality check people --- "In reality, the SUV will get no better than 25 mpg on the highway, and worse in the city.".... that's truly pathetic.
however, everything else on this ride is excellent, design and everything.

don't get it wrong, toyota, nissan, honda are japanese owned factory in america WITHOUT those unfair terms & benefits of UAW. eventually, their culture & management style are totally different compare with small....oops, big 3. yep, murano is a nice SUV, beat this new SRX hands down.

GM should have found a way to make the turbo 4 from the Solstice work. Better economy, tq, and "green image". After all the re-engineering for front-drive duty, they could even spread it across the other lines. They did the opposite with the Northstar, so it's obvious they have the capacity.

Has anyone else noticed some of the very subtle design similarities between new CTS, SRX and new Chevy's (Malibu and Cruze) in regards to the dashboard design? Something about the dual cowl effect and the way the dash angles down into the center console. They aren't exactly the same but similar enough to make me think of each other. Also, something about the C-pillars of the CTS and Malibu seem similar. Don't get me wrong, I think they are both outstanding cars within their range and I can actually say that I wouldn't be offended at the idea of driving/owning either of them. I think both designs are actually pretty excellent it just seems like the same designers were at work but on different brands.

If I buy new car then just Infiniti/Acura/Lexus not GM junk. By the way this Cadillac looks stupid

beg/borrow/steal a decent diesel engine from a Euro manufacturer and hope the economy picks up a bit. that's the only hope this car has! (which is a shame, because it's a damn sight better looking than a RR Sport, ML, X3, Lexus RX or the Infiniti thing.)

yep...another reason why big 3 fell...they made American love SUV, then they keep pumping new SUV to the market for short-sight profit, then forget what's need to be done for the future (e.g. the success story of toyota prius vs. GM's Volt still not materialize & available yet). look at asian & european countries, SUV never pick up! they're dinosaur only american love. like the british said: the IQ of the drivers of Hummer are equal to its MPG.
everyday while i'm driving, i look at all those big-ass SUV on the highway with the driver only...what's wrong with these people??

This cadillac ugliest from all cadillacs. And don't compare this ugly junk with Acura/Infiniti/Lexus because they prettier and better in all aspects

Wow, that thing is tiny! It looks a lot bigger in the pictures then in the movie. Hmm, I don't like the side vents though, they seem really out of place on a crossover.

Nice one Cadillac, first the CTS and now this. Please make the STS and DTS replacement a great one.

Nice work, I find Cadillac the most successfull american brand at the moment, if not the only successfull one. Their recent models (namely the CTS and this) approach the Europeans and Japanesee makers dangerously close. Now If they could introduce an STS replacement toghether with a new, refined BLS, they may be able to rescue GM.

and BTW., you really need to introduce diesel versions for Europe, this is the only way!

What for it has that huge front bamper? It looks like bulldozer. I don't thik this could compete with BMW X5. Nothing more than Murano or Tribeca.
January 5, 2009 9:38 am
what about this new 250hp 2.9 V6 TD which is supposed to be going in the CTS?
Also, GM still get some FIAT diesels
January 5, 2009 9:48 am
That has to be one of the best looking interiors I've ever seen... and it's from GM - what a shocker! Hopefully, they've adressed the weight, performance, fuel economy and price (Infiniti EX35 should be it's benchmark). Otherwise, it's just another piece of sheetmetal gathering dust at a yet to close Cadillac delearship.
January 5, 2009 11:32 am
now that is shokingly awful. Come on Caddy you have made some great looking cars and now you give us this?(!).

An 8 second acceleration for an SUV is a very good time. One second less than that and you can call it a sports car, which it shouldn't be. 260 hp isn't enought? If you want to go racing, then go buy yourself a sports car... Simple.
