So BMW invented a new name for the 5-door hatchback? PAS will join the likes of 4-door coupe and warm water. But all cynisme aside, i think it's a good idea if it's a more aerodynamic version of the touring, as long as it's not an excuse to hike up the price of a 3 series even more.

Congratualtions BMW for once again, creating a 'new' niche for the sake of wanting to feel special. Apparantley conventional names like SUV, crossover and '5-door Hatchback' aren't good enough for BMW. That aside, I hope that this one won't be as ugly as some of the others.

Why would the 5 Series PAS come with seating for four, and then the smaller 3 Series PAS have seating for five? Makes as much sense as this nonsense.

It's a cool idea. Traditional sedans and wagons tend to suck - they are much better with a bit more headroom and a little ground clearance. I'm not a BMW buyer, but this is a very nice concept for a car. This is a more useful car for most people.

if you think about it, these PAS designs are actually ideal for future hybrid or fuel cell drivetrains. People think that the prius and insight hybrids are ugly, but this is a pretty sexy shape on a bimmer. It seems that every BMW introduces a new concept, people think it's the most ridiculous thing, but almost in almost every instance they end up making sense. Then all the other companies play catch up. I'm sure BMW just loves it.
