Could a new Porsche Cayenne interior be on the way? These spy photos taken near The Ring seem to say a new interior is likely. However, with a face lifted version of the luxury SUV released recently, when will this new interior appear?
Porsche has two new Cayenne trim models scheduled to come out before 2010, which might inspire the German automaker to freshen up the insides. A hybrid version is expected sometime next year, and a diesel version with Audi's 3.0-lite V6 has also been announced for 2009. Either of these releases could be enough of an excuse to release the SUV in '09 with new innards.
Porsche will also release the next generation Cayenne within two years. This new interior could likely be a part of the 2nd generation Porsche Cayenne, to appear in mid-2010.
This interior differs from the current Cayenne interior in several ways. A longer center console (which is also raised higher) is marked by a better-placed gear shifter that is easier for the driver to reach. Switches and buttons line each side of the shift lever similar to those seen in Porsche Panamera interior spy photos. The multi-function Porsche Communication Management touchscreen, with Bluetooth, Sat-Nav and satellite radio option, looks to be the same system currently available. Climate control seems to be just below the PCM. Hopefully, Porsche keeps the Universal Audio Interface, which would likely be located around the driver's right elbow.
A more "normal" three point steering wheel, instead of the currently available triangle-in-the-circle wheel, is used on this mule.
