Yeah, ok. This car is going to sell like craz because the world economy is so perfect that everyone can afford $80K+ cars!! Bloody excellent strategy BMW, excellent strategy. First Chris Bangle, now this.
Just a hint, BMW, shave off $10K to $15K off that price and you might do well.

Totally agree with all of what you said ... they need to think again about their marketing and pricing strategy

The economic crisis created more rich, with cheap stocks doubling over night, and BMW has 2.0% financing which is amazing compared to the others. This car will sell just as well as it did before, the people that could afford this car last year can still afford it. 82k is about what the Cadillac DTS costs, so their price is amazing for this piece of engineering.

US people get the cheapest prices in car world ever! and yet talking about it!

The DTS does NOT cost 80K at all. It starts at the mid 40s, maybe even the 30s with all those rebates and discounts.
Nonetheless provided that the S class is close to 90K base, I'm assuming more people will go for the 7; it's a true bargain considering base price and features.

A V12? From the previous generation? Are they serious? I thought the V12 was to be dropped.
December 26, 2008 2:11 pm
No V12, yet. Again a wrong information from WCF.com
V12 will arrive at IAA in 09/2009 at Frankfurt. It will be a twinturbo V12 with about 540 hp.
December 26, 2008 2:26 pm
400hp V8 or 438hp V12 power, does the V12 has 38 more hp only? actualy the sale of the V12 was very low, i think they should stop manufacturing it.
BTW a $85k is a good and cheap price comparing to us! Do you how much it cost in my country? O.k it cost around $147k ..!!! Nobody is caring about the world crises and economy, all the dealers want is filling there pockets and acounts with the biggest amount of money!

you think you've got it rough? in australia a 760Li costs near as makes no difference $350,000 AU - which is about $238,000 US!! i just want to know how america gets its importet cars so cheap compared to us, especially as i happen to live in perth, the city with the highest percentage of millionaires per population anywhere in the world! agreed with mps, if i lived in the US i'd have a fairly nice garage..
December 26, 2008 10:05 pm
The americans really get their cars cheap. Heck, if I were to live there I'd have a wealthy garage.
December 26, 2008 3:15 pm
Yeah...that really pisses me off! 80k for a 7 series that they have to IMPORT...
And for people saying they should lower the price...a 7 series, S-Klasse, A8 are all status cars...if u want it for 15k less, go get a 5 series, E-Klasse, A6...thats why they make so many cars:S
December 26, 2008 4:22 pm
No, i will not get the 7 Series. I willl get the mext-gen Cadillac DTS, codenamed DT7. And it will start with a $60,000 price tag.
December 28, 2008 9:31 pm
That is a good deal and you get what you pay for if you got 85k to throw at a car.

When i wrote $147k i ment the 2009 750Li, around 50 cars have been sold with that price. so it's $62k less than what's written her!

0.7 is not a large increase. But the fact is that in these economic conditions, not many will buy the car. BMW's low financing deals are causing the company to sink! Merc now has a choice to delay the launch of their new S Class till economic situation improves, but BMW has already spent so much in such a bad time.
December 27, 2008 5:36 am
BMW spent the money to create this about 4 years ago. Mercedes has also already spent the money on S-class improvements. They each have no choice but to release there new big cars. Although the industry is slipping, the market for these cars doesn't depend as much on present economic conditions. The new 7 will sell well. It may even outsell the E65/66.

Hi everybody. I'm from Germany and I just wanted to let you know what the price for a 750i is over here: it's 90.000 Euros. The US-price of 81.000 Dollars equals 58.000 Euros. So we have to pay a f***ing 32.000 Euros more for that (undeniably great) car...
December 28, 2008 9:25 am
Hi, i'm from Portugal and here the new 730d costs 100.600 euros!!!!!! That's almost the double that in the US........So, don?t complain, ok!
December 28, 2008 3:14 pm
ha those of us who live in australia and europe really do hate yanks who complain about car prices, hey?
December 29, 2008 5:49 am
i dont see why you guys are making such a big fuss about the new 7 series. It is 4k less than a base MB S550. dynamically it will kill everything in its catergory!
December 29, 2008 12:58 pm
the dashboard has just become on the same level as the 3 and 5 series. The 7 series was very exclusive because the dash had its own unique styling. Also why go back in time with the shifter on the bottom. The 2002 7 series was the most innovative car in terms of technology and design and it seems that they are not keeping up with the tempo, shame. still a nice car, but i think i am still not as fascinated.
