Nice SUV, interesting Direct injection engines, GM should have brought this out some 2 years ago (when their image was better)...
I wonder how many people will consider a GM product again.
PS:
I read this at NY times (Dec.19)...
"In July, CNW Marketing Research said a survey it conducted showed that 80 percent of prospective car buyers would not consider purchasing a vehicle from a bankrupt company. A more recent survey found that 51 percent of the people it interviewed said they would not buy a car from G.M. even if it received a government bailout."

The car looks very good, and people will need some time to trust again the not-so big tree, but I'm sure that if they will produce good cars, and people will be satisfied they will be back on top, until then we have new big tree, and they are called Toyota, Honda and Nissan :p.

Looks pretty good in the renderings which only give you a showcase of the shape of the car. Realistically it won't look this good in real life, the interior will be full of crappy plastic, the paint job will be sub par, and the way the car is fit together wont be that good, leather will be made by Bounty paper towel co. This always seems to happen to GM, they get a decent design going and then they cheap out on materials and assembly. And they end up with something like a piece of doggy doo nicely arranged on your plate by Chef Ramsay, might look good, but would you eat it?

Is this the Vauxhall/Opel Antara??Strangely looks like it!And that has already been out two years in Europe

The Chevy version of the Vauxhall/Opel Antara/Saturn Vue is the Chevy Captiva, the Equinox is supposed to be longer than all of them.

Remember the Shock and AWE with the 1970 Datsun(now Nissan) 240Z and Lexus moved in with the German cars. Remember the Shock and Awe with the Nissan GTR. The volt could of been the next Shock and Awe but they are trailing everyone again. I guess more jobs overseas. Why not a diesel hybrid plug in or natural gas equinox

This car seems very underegineered. I hear nothing about weight reduction compared to the first generation. And a 2.4 gasoline engine cannot be considered economical, maybe bearable. VW makes 160 bhp from a 1.4 engine, with a turbo and a compresor, I don't know the exact figures, but it certainly is more economical than this antique engine. Also maybe they should try a diesel. A 2.4 200 bhp engine is used by Opel, they could do a little transplant...

I hope it drives better than the current Equinox cow. I drive one from my employers fleet every couple of weeks. The seats are typically GM awful.

Vauxhall/Opel Anatara and Chevy Captiva are ones of the most beatifull compact SUVs in Europe. Still, they do not sell well. One explanation: the competition SUVs usually have better engines, handling, reliability and cabin quality. Car magazines' comparative test-drives proves that. They may bring this one to Europe, but I don't think they will sell too many pieces of it. And that "small" engine is not at all something extraordinary. Especially when 2.0 liter diesel engines in the range of 170 to 177 hp is something common these days among the European carmakers (BMW, Renault, VW etc.).

Compared witht the Tiguan, Kuga, RAV4, CR-V and Qashqai, the Captiva and Antara are too big, heavy and thirsty. Btw, 170hp 2.0 diesel engines are fairly common in European C-segment cars, but they don't sell nerly as well as less powerful units.
