What's making me yawn is the drivel that passes for commentary on this website.

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think they've developed a Torsen drivetrain for longitudinally mounted engines. To my knowledge, the weight and price of a full Torsen AWD system in a compact car would be pretty unreasonable.

Practically the same Golf Mk5 with a new face (called now Mk6) and the same 4Motion AWD. Haldex system is quite OK for a compact car like Golf. How many usual (not sport) compact hatches do have an AWD system? That's why 4Motion brings added value to the Golf. But something new and really interesting would be a DSG gearbox mated to the new Golf 2.0 TDI 4MOTION.

If you don't live with snow and ice then you won't see the value of a 4motion Golf. Best of all it is not a Japanese car and it gets great fuel mileage. I drive a diesel Beetle and love the engine.
