If the front looks like the E-class one, this car is screwed already.

Yep the whole care will be Lexus inspired, the front from the GS and the back the IS.

Okay, there's some Lexus in it... but will still strongly consider buying myself one of those.

If i observed correctly in the past Lexus was always the one conforming to Mercede's designs....

Yes I love how everyone on here ignores the fact that in theory Lexus is kind of a rip off of a Mercedes AND that Lexus took the headlamp desgin of the GS from the W210 E class.

This just looks like a BMW 3 Series Coupe without the traditional Hoffmeister 'kink' in the C Pillar.

The only think more boring then the car is the video, I cant believe I have enough free time to waste on that...and in true boring style it will only have a "womanual ie paddleshift" transmission at best.

Whilst the 2 rivals to Merc Audi and BMW are investing in Turbos and super charged engines for their next high performance cars, Merc instead is still holding onto large CC n/a engines. In performance terms, fuel consumption as well as carbon emissions these Merc guys are definately holding he short end of the stick. Maybe they still want to hold onto the 'American dream' of muscle cars.

Looking beyond the camouflage and black taping, I truly believe that this will be a very good looking car in person. It's not too far off from the current CLK but I think the proportions and overall execution will be much better and neater. Not that I'm psychic or something, but I have a sense that this model will actually do really well and catch some of the panache, exclusiveness and aura that have been missing from Mercedes for a little while. I think this will have a bit of what Mercedes used to be about 25 years ago. We'll only know once it's on the road and available to see in person, but this is what I see when I look beyond the mule shots.

RCW, I couldn't agree with you more. I'm dead set on getting an Audi A5 with S-Line package fully loaded with auto transmission in about 18 months. However, after watching the mules and unfolding of the forthcoming E-class coupe, I may have some reservation about the Audi. As an owner of a CLS, It's obvious that I have a weakness for gorgeous grand touring coupes. The new E-class coupe I believe will be nothing less than striking in appearance and form. With careful attention to proportions and detail, a well executed 18" wheel design or 19" wheel option would certainly bring this car full circle in terms of desirablity. To me this image is one of the most telling:

yeah its very asian looking at the rear, i have haigh hopes for it as i think that the e class has just missed the mark by letting its self down in the detailing but we'll have to wait and see wont we...
i just read a test drive of the fascination and autoexpress gave it 5 of of 5 saying it was a trult remarkable machine, if this drives as well it will stand a good chance, still think an a5 looks better though

first thing that comes to mind is that the tail lights look a lot like the lexus ES350 ones. and the window arch resembles a CLS which isn't a bad thing. nice car overall. justsomething about the tail lights.... seems to be sitting a bit too low for my liking
