Matte Black Rolls-Royce Phantom Menace

Video reveals mysterious Rolls Royce Phantom decked in matte black

A Rolls Royce Phantom decked out in matte black? Okay, we'll have a look but we can't promise we will like it.

After all, ultra-luxury vehicles like a Rolls, with its own distinct styling and baroque design, are not something you can easily take home and re-model yourself.

Some speculation is in order here on this Rolls. Judging by this video, the setting is Southern California and one has to wonder who this car belongs to. A movie star? No, this car screams music industry outlandishness. Probably a hip-hop artist. By the way, is this thing bulletproof?

There is something about a matte black job that gives a vehicle that certain testing-phase, pre-production, camouflaged look. As if the car isn't really finished.

On the inside, the black and metal industrial-design theme seems to work much better. But a charcoaled matte black finish on the outside makes the car look, well, not quite done. Where is the opulence and sheen of the Rolls of yore? Your thoughts?

If you can afford a RR Phantom, you can afford as well a portable missile launcher, copkiller by Ice T screaming out of the 800W hi-fi sound system. So I'd say color shouldn't be an issue.

Guys, don't get too excited, it's a miniature model. You can totally see that the tires are not real. The villa is not real (miniature model), and the shots on the beach, are also miniature. As for the emblem going up and down - that was shot off a real Rolls zoomed in, so you can't see the color.

The Rolls is one of two in the world and is a show car and is used file, video and special use only. The car was recently featured in Los Angeles at the Toys for Tots event fundraiser in Dec 2008. The vehicle was done by specialtycarcraft.com with a full Matt Black finish and has several thousand visitors come by and compliment the vehicle as it looks completely different and better in person rather than this low budget film that was ill produced.
