The first photo of a ready-to-sell BMW Z4 has leaked out of an undisclosed dealership. Not meant to be seen by the public until December 15th, the picture shows the final draft of the shiny roadster.

The BMW Z4 will sport an electro-mechanical differential called sDrive, and will likely have an additional engine option in addition to those already available. This new Z4 is thought to have 2.0-, 2.5-, and 3.0-litre engines, as well as a 3.0-litre twin turbo, and a massive 4.0-litre V8 from the M division.

Still uncertain is the auto show which will receive the new Z4 on a pedestal for its adoring public. The appearance of this photo makes us suspect a Detroit appearance may be imminent.

The new BMW Z4 will be produced at the Regensburg plant in Germany. The previous version was produced in Spartanburg.

Looks ok to me, like a meaner version of the current Z4... and finally the return of the Z3's side gills/vents.

Busy and overstyled, imho. The grilles pitch forward awkwardly, and none of the shapes in the front fascia (grilles, headlamps and outboard lower air intakes) seem to have any relation to each other. And like the Z3, the tiny butt seems weak. Once again it makes the Miata look like an honest, pure sports car, even though I'm sure it will be a pleasure to drive.

It looks a tad ugly in my opinion. The front looks way to long. Maybe just the angle of the picture. Gonna have to wait for press release pictures to get some different angles, but don't like the look for now.

I agree with you. "The front looks way to long". It is just like a driving from the rear seats.

fugly as hell the grill of the new bmw generations is akward why do they keep doing it bigger and bigger. but a V8 will be amazing it would have some awesome handling and power but an ugly face

Oh no, looks like BMW's have a bad future ahead. new cars (apart from the 3 series) from BMW are looking like ****! The designer should be just unemployed already...

Meh, better than the 7, I guess I like it alright, it's already 1000 times better than the other z4 because its being made in Germany.

as for the z4, it stays true to old school proportions but remains too long in the front for my taste, being seat on the rear axle just feels weird

Looks great. I love the blatant elongation of the bonnet. Its obviously not needed, but it just gives the car such a unique, exotic look! Like you will open it and find a V12 or something!

Good job BMW! Makes a TT look fat and bloated.

Reserve judgement until you see proper pictures and not a camera phone image with ridiculous amounts of reflections all over the car. It stays true to the traditional roadster format hence the long bonnet.

I like the look of it... though i do think that photo is a deliberate leak if you look at the reflections they hide important detail, as does the chap moving out of the shot, he covers the roof, yes it looks likely to be a metal one, it could be soft from the way his arm covers it and reflection hides the tailing edge of the boot and rear light cluster. either way it's cool

Am not a fan of the Z-Series but the front actually looks nice. I totally agree that they went back to a more Z3 style and thats the only complaint I have about it.

front looks fine to me, just a little uncertain about the rear - can't see it obviously, but it looks a lot more z3-ish.

thats fkn hot. i cant imagine this with hamann wheels. in black, lowered. looks weird here and will get some getting used to for some people but this is going to be a hot car no doubt.

IT looks F***En Ugly dude,..Z3 was good,..Z4 was still alight,..this looks as if its on a diet,..i hope it wont be a flop,..i like beemers,.. 3 is gd,5 is good still 6 is nice,..7 is alright,..1 is too plain,..4 is just Toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Ugly.Hope it wont be a flop!!!!!

How can anyone judge the looks of a car before seeing it in the metal? Ugly the car is not. A challenge to the ordinary cars that we see every day, it is. Guys go back and continue to enjoy your bland Renaults and Mercedes! Stop reading the press, have an opinion of your own.

well i was great BMW fun till creations of that American whose name is not worth of mentioning. that incredibly ugly shape of current models z4, 3, 5 (fire-like shapes)!!! I mean c'mon it's BMW..it's not a Peugeot or Renault..BMW cars should look more solid more immortal through teeth of time, like jaguar, Rols, Mercedes,Ferrari, Porsche...those cars have eternal design..they will look good after many years. i think bmw should back old right shapes and lines. This Z4 is like that..it looks damn good! i can't wait till release especialy the M version. i will curtanly buy it. i think that this z4 will be atomic bomb to his rivals in this segment.
