New Golf Plus Mark VI revealed in Bologna
Volkswagen Golf V Plus wasn't exactly a sales hit in the UK, managing only 25,111 units against the normal car's 307,862. A target of 25 percent of Golf hatch sales had been set, and obviously not met. VW plans to improve greatly upon this as it reveals the larger Golf VI Plus at the Bologna Motor Show.
Leading the charge towards greater sales numbers will be the car's sportier look, personified in narrower headlights, a lower profile as well as redesigned roof rails. The car's interior remains the same as the original hatchback.
Engines will mimic for the most part, those of the hatch, such as 2.0-litre TDI, 1.4 TSI and others. For prices we'll have to wait until VW makes an announcement during spring 2009.

Looks better than Golf Plus Mk5, but looks rather like a facelifted Golf Plus Mk5. In other words, looks like a better-looking Golf Mk5.

Totally agree with you there.
Unfortunately, dull sells like hotcakes :(

There's something in word "new" VW doesn't understand.
And it's realy cheeky to call it Mk VI.

They understand very well the word "new". They just want to let us think it's something new. In fact, it's far closer to a facelift than to a new model. Golf Plus is a small MPV, not an usual hatch, so the utility is supossed to come first (and not the design). Anyway, it is not a new design. It is only a freshened design of an existing model. But if "new" sells better, why not. Even with such "dull" models, VW is now the third largest world manufacturer. And with the problems GM is facing these days, it is likely VW will become soon the second.

At least VW has found a design language for itself instead of the halfway Audi big mouth identity with chromes splashed all around we've been seen for a few years now.

I don't get the use for this car. It's only taller, you cannot put more people in it, there is not really a lot of usable extra luggage space but it's more expensive, heavier, ...
Only people for who it might be interesting is those who are too tall for a normal Golf.
No wonder itdidn't sell that much...

Dull? And GMs, Nissans, Subarus, Toyotas and Chryslers excite you?

Okay... Toyota, Lexus, Chrysler, Chevrolet, Opel and many others are really, really dull... but not Nissan. I'm sorry, but there's no way an Altima could be compared to a Camry in terms of driving dynamics, design and image. Actually, in my opinion, Nissan America, Mazda, Alfa and Ford of Europe are the very brands that put excitement into the mainstream car market.

yeah nissn is the most eclectic car company on earth. every one of its cars looks different to each other. everything from the micra to the mighty GTR and everything in between is different, unlike our one trick pony vw, audi and peugeot. not to mention most euro car firms. yeah and there are a hell of a lot of dull people out there who keep buying vw by the looks of things.

I really don't understand you people. How is a VW duller than anything else on the market? A MkVI Golf is far more exciting than an Auris/Corolla, Tiida, Japanese-spec Civic, Caliber, Astra, 308 or Focus.
