New details have been leaked on the Nissan GT-R V-Spec. It's not sporting more horses but it has been made lighter and more agile.

The same 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 with 473 hp remains but a little tinkering has been done to boost mid-range power sourcing when the throttle is pressed for more.

The diet consists of increased use of lightweight materials. The rear wing, grill and front seats are made of carbon fiber. 20" aluminum wheels help lighten the car as well.

The V-Spec also gets carbon fiber brakes and a Bilstein Damptronic suspension to improve ride and performance. A track time at the Sendai Highland Raceway in Japan two seconds quicker than the standard GT-R is the apparent result.

Squeezing nearly 500 horses out of a V6 that's less than 4 liters is an impressive feat for Nissan and this is the kind of growling umph they should be putting in the new 370Z Nismo-tuned editions.
