Tuning brand Marangoni, previously only associated with making performance tyres, has gone slightly manic on an Alfa Romeo Mi.To by blowing the Italian luxury mini car to a stupendous level. From the car's 1.4T-Jet they managed to force out 220hp/ 164kW, up 65hp/ 48kW from the standard turbo car. These numbers are comparable to the Ford Focus ST and Renault Megane RS R27. Power delivery is said to have been achieved from very low revs on the little pocket rocket which Marangoni calls an M430.
Aesthetically changes include lowering the car by more than 4cm, bolting on scissor-style doors infusing various air inlets with the body, a rear end diffuser and four exhaust pipes. Those red low-profile tyres match both exterior and interior theme, and measure some 18-inches. Mi.To's major rival the MINI's last limited edition unit was the 2006 MINI GP, which made a fearsome 220hp from its 1.6-litre engine. Marangoni may have just given Alfa something quite tangible to work from.
See it in full colour and full power at the 2008 Essen Motor Show in Germany from this weekend.
