Jaguar XF-R Spied in Red

The next generation Jaguar XF, spied almost fully unmasked with hood mounted air vents and quad exhaust

The wait continues for exactly which car show Jaguar will choose to unveil its upcoming new XF series at.

But it's a sign that a debut is coming soon that they seem to be getting a little careless with concealing the new XF-R, running about without much camouflage, as evidenced here in these spy shots.

Distinguishing features are the air vents on the hood, large bumper air intakes and quad exhaust.

Speculation is that Jaguar will better the current 4.2 liter, 420 hp supercharged engine in the SV8 XF with a 5.0 liter, direct-injection power plant supplying more that 500 hp of pull.

Jaguar earned a lot of critical brownie points with the SV8 XF, which was largely viewed as a car true to the Jag heritage. Now, Jaguar seems serious about taking on the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz AMG E63. A gentlemanly British challenge to the dominance of the German premiums brands.

... but should look tougher! Perhaps a move in the right direction but there still remains a long road to travel. From the side, I think it either sits too high or looks too tall and they could've been a bit more original with the back as well (must be a lot of Audi fans at Jaguar).

I don't expect much from the XFR, I'll like it almost no matter what. Although, I still wish they had kept the lights closer to those of the C-XF concept.

@Motor_Yakuza I dont think there is any need to describe the origins of the owner of the company. It doesnt matter who owns it and all matters is that we get a good product.

Akbars600 is right, regardless of who owns the company, the main thing is that we get a quality product. However, I think the Indians at Tata will bring some common sense to Jagar which was previously missing under Ford ownership.

If by common sense, u wanna say ruining the brand's nobility u are right, a Jag should be a Jag, not a Merc , BMW, an Audi, a Cadillac, a Lexus or any other luxury brand, because if u want one of those u can just buy it, a Jaguar is something else, is the car u buy it, not to show that u have a lot of money, u buy it kuz u have class, kuz u can appreciate a real car, not just technology. Oh and I seriously doubt that tata can equal the technology of the germans, the japanese and even the GM's.

I agree with bristol411s3. There is an arrogance that turns some people off by the German models mentioned. I like where Jaguar is going.

Yeah its hard not to be arrogant in a German car when you know you have the best thing on the road

IF u say so, but saying that makes u even more arrogant, and I don't think that german cars are the best.
