BMW's hard-to-classify X6 is still warm from the oven, so to speak, and already the tuners are lining up to make it hotter. One of the first to step up is LUMMA Design. The Winterlinger-based tuner's CLR X 650 features a widebody kit and performance upgrades and will be displayed at the Essen Motor Show.

LUMMA's kit starts on the outside, with monstrous 23-inch wheels and a full widebody kit including 5cm fender extensions, front and rear bumper spoilers and side skirts. Carbon-fiber detailing is also used on the show car. An air ducted carbon hood is also included. The CLR X 650 is snugged down over those massive wheels thanks to a 35mm drop courtesy of the lowered sport suspension designed by LUMMA.

The 4.4 liter turbocharged V8 has a reprogrammed ECU and a stainless sport exhaust to boost power, and LUMMA has also introduced a "gas pedal power module" (GPM) that increases pedal response.

The interior has not escaped notice either. Leather and Alcantara wrap the seating surfaces, while red LUMMA-logo gauges and floormats make sure it's obvious who's responsible for this vehicle. Aluminum pedals and footrest are also engraved with the LUMMA logo.

Highlight for the Motorshow Essen LUMMA Design CLR X 650, basis BMW X6

  • Bodykit contains, front spoiler bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, fender extensions
  • Exterieur parts in Carbon
  • Wheels in dimension 23 inches" and sport lowering suspension kit
  • Increased performance and engine optic package
  • Interior design in Carbonleather and Alcantara

Only a few weeks did pass by, since the introduction of the BMW X6 to the public,
but LUMMA Design already did upgrade the newest BMW model. As one of the first,
the Winterlinger based Tuner, offers a complete package for the BMW X6.

Wide body kit LUMMA CLR X 650

The massive bodykit is broadening the Sports SUV 5cm per side by fender extensions,
the front bumper with it's day light running lights is adding the CLR X 650 a sportive look,
the individual rear bumper with Carbon diffuser, a Carbon sport look front hood with air ducts
and the sportive side skirts are rounding up the whole package. Design mirrors, aerodynamic
optimized, in Carbon, headlight eyelids and tanned tail lights, replenish the sportive look of the
LUMMA CLR X 650.

Wheels in 23" and lowering sport suspension

The matching, new developed and designed wheels in dimension 11x23", LUMMA Racing 3,
with Michelin 315/25-23 front and rear, are making out of the CLR X 650, an individual unicum,
state of the art.

In combination with the LUMMA lowering sport suspension, lowering the car approx.
35mm, for cars with and without air ride system, the wheels look even bigger than they are.
Positive secondary effect: lower point of gravity and a better handling of the car.

Power increase and engine optic package

The BMW 4,4 twin turbo V8 is for sure a powerful engine, "but can even more power be a sin?"
For sure not. By reprogramming the electronics in the ECU, LUMMA Design is increasing the
power. Another brand new option is the LUMMA GPM (gaspedal power module) for a much
better respond of the gas pedal and more dynamic acceleration, a must have for every sport
ambitious driver. Easy to install, plug and play, ready to go on the course.

If you decide to tune the engine or not, the LUMMA engine optic package, will upgrade the
engine compartment to perfection. The eyecatcher contains a red coated engine cover and
Carbon air intake inlet tubes.

When it comes to sound LUMMA Design made no compromises, a sport exhaust system,
with flap technology made out of high quality stainless steel is mounted, which produces a
deep and sonorous racing sound. Tail tips, custom made, are upgrading the visual appear-
ance of the CLR X 650.

Interior, individual upgrade for the passenger compartment

For the passenger compartment of the CLR X 650, LUMMA offers a huge lineup of accessories. Individually refined with the finest leather, LUMMA provides a luxury passenger
compartment, a masterpiece of quality, design and style. Tone in tone, handcrafted in the
same material and quality, the steering wheel, ergonomic moulded.

The odometers with LUMMA logo, are coated in elegant red, and the scales are extended to
300 km/h. For motorsport feeling, aluminium pedals and a footrest were mounted as well as
entry panels. Made out of high quality aluminium, anodized, with the LUMMA logo engraved.
Floor mats in best quality with LUMMA emblem embroidered, matching the colour of the
interior, trapped with leather, as well as a boot mat, are rounding up this package.

Last but not least a hightech multimedia system with 7,5 " monitors installed in the custom
made headrests, are completing this high class, luxury master piece of German craftsman-
ship.

use your imagination, looks like a stormtrooper from the front too =P still, looks pretty decent, and it'll be a much better drive than any other 4x4

The tuners still can't help out on the odd-ness of this... um... thing.

Yeah, especially since they stole the idea from Ssangyong LOL

an amazing idea? build an SUV that looks like a (very ugly) car, tries to imitate car handling and then get a tuning company that slams it as close to the ground so that you don't get high ground clearance like you do in an SUV... here's a good idea for you - BUY A CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!

hmm....there really is no point to this car is there? if you want a 4x4 you buy a H3, not even a X5 :P. if you want a bmw sports coupe you buy a M3. if you are someone who is a virgin and needs to get a girlfriend you buy this.

Is the H3 really an SUV? come on please the H3 is a frikkin car designed by a bread baker. It looks like a loaf pr!ck on wheels.

Panamera
November 21, 2008 9:36 AM
And yet its the best offroader and the toughest and recieves the most attension. try to come up with better defects bro. the H3 is a real mans car, not some bmw on a high chassis calling itself a offroader

Is the H3 is the best offroader and the toughest? So the H3 also recieves the most attention? On the best off roader going by test it's either a Land Rover, Range, Toyota Land Cruiser or Mitsubishi Pajero. I have never in my entire life seen an H3 being used by terrorists or the Oil rich Arabs simply because it is a shitty over sized loaf on wheels. It is simply put an american Meatloaf poor excuse of a car. Ask your self the question why you find more Humvee wrecked shells than Toyotas. Ask your self why the Un almost always uses Toyotas to deliver aid to unreacheable areas and ask Jeremy Clarkson which car is almost indestructible and drove to the North pole? it is called a Toyota and from the look of things you are an American who's trying to market poo poo products to the rest of the world, well we do not buy it and that's why your pitiful car companies are crushing. Wake up and smell the coffee mi broer American cars suck on almost everything. You'll find alot of then at junk yards - now go get them. The H3 is the toughest and attracts the most attention my foot. Open your eyes!!!

You sir are obviously ignorant. the H3 gets all the hummer package. which is being used in iraq because of its toughness, minus the armor. and if you just thought a little bit you would realise that the main reason the toyota land cruiser is so widely used is because its so cheap to run or repair and replace. and don't start on the range rovers....they are only famous for falling apart. get a range rover and if nothing goes wrong with it for a year then I'll be impressed. actualy since you got into the whole jeremy clarkson thing. he likes range rovers but admits they are rubbish and fall apart. the Toyota hilux pickup truck was used to go to the pole which was heavily modified not the land cruiser. and he likes hummers. said they are ridiculous but you gotta love em. another point is the oil rich people do have hummers. where do you think hummer's best sales are outa the U.S? UAE. the Arabs are hummer crazy. so dude.... unless you got a real argument going grow up. just sounds like you are one of those green activists who hate the sound of a little fun just because you cant have it. ;)

alright, let's put our egos aside and actually use our heads. from personal experience - which i must say, living down under, is quite extensive - i have never seen any hummer vehicle taken off road. i have, however, seen land cruisers take pretty much anything our outback has to throw at them, and from the looks of it without too much work from the driver. i have even once seen a current model range rover take a 70 degree slope - may not sound like much, but that's a seriously steep slope for a car. the h3 is a posers car, rather like this x6. if you buy either of them you will never, ever take them offroad - the x6 because it's not built for it, the h3 because it just can't stand anything tougher than flat gravel. and as for the UN using toyotas? do you honestly believe that they use them because they're cheap? do you really think the united nations couldn't find the money to buy an h3? the difference between a land cruiser and an h3 isn't exactly enormous either. no, the hummer is a great showoff car, much like the x6, but don't go believing it has the offroad potential to compete with the range rover, let alone a land cruiser. or the mitsubishi pajero, which has won the paris-dakar... 7 times on the trot? it's fine to like a car, especially if it's from your home country, but don't ever believe it's something it's not. peace out =)

you sir dont know much about the hummers then. The H3 being the least powerful and the baby of the range can manage a 40% side slope, 60% uphill slope. the pajero that has won dakar is a pajero evo made special for that settings. you try taking a pajero on even a child's sandbox you will have a hard time getting it out. no doubt the land cruiser has always been and still is a great car. but not so much the range rover. the range rover will fall apart and break down alot and will cost a fortune to fix it. and another good point you made is that the land cruiser gives off no image. that is why the UN uses it. if they used H3's they would be the center of attension and that is exactly what they dont want. you cannot compare the H3 to the porsche cayenne or the x5 or x6. none of those cars will go offroad because they may "scratch the paint". but the hummer is basicaly made for offroad. its better off than onroad. i say this as a H3 owner. also dont forget the range rover costs double the H3 and alot more than the land cruiser and is still the worst. so in the end the H3 is a superb offroader car. a great image and great to live with and reliable. this is something none of the other 2 give.

lucifa

you have a point on the image; the land cruiser can't match it. though as for "scratching the paint", you might be an exception but so many h3's and h2's have 20+ inch chrome rims and the sort of add-ons that mean a cut in the paintwork would be disastrous - a few scratches in a way suits a land rover, but for the hummer image an h3 needs to be clean. if it can actually manage a 60% slope (and if that's a factory claim don't believe it; they tend to exaggerate) then they might be a better offroad car than they're generally given credit for. but you can't say it's the best and toughest offroader - that still goes to the land cruiser. and for all the range rover mightn't be the most reliable (though, incidentally, the couple of people i know who own h2s do complain about their reliability issues being worse than a range rover's), i'd still say it's more capable offroad when both are working normally. my 2 cents.

it looks ugly. Even if they handle this car to brabus or mansory they'll not be able to some thing with it! This car confused all the tuners.

Panamera, go lie to the City dwellers of the USA seeing that i live in South Africa and there are very few places tougher than DRC, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Angola, Mozambique, The Zambezi River banks and Tanzania. All the guys who go on trips to these places do it in either Land Rovers, Toyotas, Isuzus or Mitsubishis. The H3 like i told you before fails in this part of the world. Like Lucifer pointed out almost all of them have these silly chromed mags and the only thing they do right besides moving along the road like a Hippo is double park. It may be looked at as a Posers car but people with class never buy them here due to it's cheap interior material finishes. An H3 here in South Africa isn't even considered as an expensive car - it's actually a cheapie (R300,000 to R400,000) compared to a Range Rover (R600,000 to R1,000,000); Mitsubishi Pajero (R350,000 to R400,000), Toyota Land Cruiser (R700,000 to R1,000,000) and all of these are used cars with low mileage. A new Hummer 3 costs less than R500,000 here but a Range Rover is double that amount as is the land Cruiser. So your cheapie chirp actually is on the American car and funny enough it is as cheap as a Grand Cherokee. The reason behind their cheapness is due to their cheap interior finishes, engineering, design and just a small market base for American cars outside America. Panemerawhatever, YOU JUST GOT SERVED. Always Remember that Hummers are meat loafs on wheels and aren't real off roaders. Even the US Army know that Toyotas are way better machinery than the great American 'Can of Sardines - the Hummer'. "You can't touch this..."
