A great car now gets even greater

Nissan is making a few changes to the GT-R for Model Year 2009. Soon it will be two years since the GT-R went to market in Japan and these changes/ additions will benefit that market first. MY 09 is being dubbed Series II.
It gets a power upgrade of 5ps to 485ps/ 357kW, the white point paint is now Storm White, Brembo brake calipers are now rebadged as Nissan instead of Brembo, and the front license plate base has been removed and the fuel tank increased from 71 litres to 73.8 litres. Fuel economy thus goes from 8.2 km/L to 8.5km/L. However, all this comes at yet another price increase, this time up 5 percent.

A 1% increase in published HP but a 3.7% increase in fuel consumption. That's, um, progress.
And yes, who wouldn't rather see Brembo on their brakes than Nissan? Are they no longer Brembos? Doubt it... Mizuno-san boasted of working closely with them to develop the GT-R's innovative braking hardware. Why stop celebrating the collaboration with the world's most renowned brake supplier?
So, since everyone already knew that car outputs well over its published HP (shhh!), what makes the "Series II" better, much less worthy of being called a new series? A new shade of white paint?
It's still a truly amazing car, but these changes seem more appropriate for a more troubled car, not something that damn near everyone has lauded as a true supercar, and a bargain among them. Almost seems like Nissan is so used to lackluster success that they have no other approach to model updates in their repertoire. Odd...
It's a crazy way to express it though. And I also don't see the association that is insinuated with fuel consumption having something to do with the size of the fuel tank.
