i like this design language... its an interesting step, i think jag should lean towards it, explore it with their models! i like!

As far as I know, the Mazda RX-8 uses the same platform as the XK, same as the XF. So the idea of a lightweight sports car is not unrealistic!

RX8 has nothing to do with Jaguar. The XF is in fact a development of the steel 'S' Type platform, which was a joint development with Lincoln for the LS over 15 years ago. XK is an aluminium platform, and is developed from the XJ albeit shortened.

I think Mr. Tata should be very carefull about "downsizing" the jaguar brand. The x-type experience tells us that. Still the picture looks o.k. (wich goes both ways: a Jag shouldn't be just o.k.) It would be better to invest in a new hybrid-fuel efficient engine until 2012. Also competing against Rolls or Bentley? Not with Jaguar. If only the Daimler brand would come back...

I couldn't agree more! Jaguar desperately needs the iconic image it lost years ago. Looking at the picture above, I get the sense that Tata may be moving in the right direction. However, it's yet another one of those designs that incorporates too much from other brands; sort of a big madza miata with a Ferrari California front end. Still, I must say it looks better than anything Jaguar currently has out now.

When the X-type first arrived it was well-received by man, C&Driver for one. It also sold decently in Canada. It was a 3series fighter and a good one to boot, when it was FIRST introduced. It languished after though.

For some reason it looks like a Miata with a Jaguar face (and some 626 queues)
They've built this thing so small so as not to alienate XK sales that no one will drive it. It needs to be larger than a TT. Any guy would look funny driving this.

looks too much like the California, common Jag you can do better then copy a Ferrari that looks like a Jap.

Pshaw! I would spend the $60K on this car. I love the design. I think it looks spiffy!
This car would definitely give competition to the cars it is in league with. However with the Z4, I am sure the jag will annihilate the Z4 before you even put petrol in the car.

Upcoming XF? How old is this article? The XF has been out for ages.
Any any suggestions that there could be anything else based on the X-Type is just rubbish. Everyone knows that model is as dead as a dodo.
This article is tosh.

I think Jaguar needs an X-Type replacement with a coupe and estate version, and a more modern looking XJ (also with a coupe version). Other than this Jaguar appears to have an extremely competent line up.
