Hmm... wouldn't it be very confusing for those of us who are so used twisting our heels on down-shifts?

they should just give it 370 hp... then it would match the name of the car :D:D:D... 370Z they should have done that with the 350Z too... jeeezz

I don't know for some reason this new one isn't as nice as the current one in my opinion at least. To me it looks slightly fat and i dont like that cut away in the headlights..Could have been better.

I agree with you; it looks like something I probably created in NFS Underground 2...

even at my age (17 turning 18 in a couple months) i know exactley why they have shaped this car the way its shaped. how old are u (just curious)???. they're clearly going back to their original design schemes aka their datsun designs. however, i do agree partially on the lights. they're very strange and different. however, these lights look fine on this car, but definitely not on the maxima.

At carcrazy ~ So what you are saying is that then next step is to change their name back to datsun as well? Based on your logic (no wonder you're 17) Car designs are based on aerodynamics and performance

Directed firstly at carcrazy1234: age is irrelevant in this discussion, a wide understanding of the topic is needed. At GeeNee: just because this guy is younger (I am 21) it does not follow that he should know less and therefore not be listened to. There is no implication whatsoever that the opinion expressed constitutes that of a person who thinks NISSAN wants to be DATSUN. At radmeister: I like this car, I can see the influences and inspiration.

That's a matter of opinion, but if we're just throwing it out there, you're forgetting Subaru, Toyota, Hyundai and every U.S. make!

bla bla bla, u are just a hater, there is no such thing as perfect car, so who cares about what are u saying.

Dude, I totally agree with you. Haters just chat rubbish. This car isn't perfect, but it still looks awesome. Too bad there isn't such thing as a perfect car.

Im intrigued as to how the auto rev-matching will be accomplished. However, I hope it is user selectable. I'd hate to have the computer botch a downshift in the middle of some off-camber apex.
November 11, 2008 5:50 pm
 budgy budgy
Before someone can answer that you need to ask yourself why you would be downshifting right @ the apex

Budgy, that may be the most intelligent question I've ever been asked on WCF. I had typed a full reply with examples and the like, but I think you'd completely understand with just these few words: unknown decreasing radius bend! Ever been caught in one of those at 9/10s? Thats when an apex downshift is likely (and needed). Now imagine that, but off-camber too.

I love what they did with the new Z, especially to the back end. The whole car takes on a personality all it's own yet stays true to it's heritage. It's the attention to detail at certain key points that makes this design a success imo. I love the way the fenders bulge out slightly more and how the rear grabs your attention and, imo forces you to take notice unlike the previous Z; it no longer looks naked without a spoiler.

I love it as well. The 350 looked bubbly and like a poor attempt at a sports car, but this is certainly a step in the right direction for that shape. I am a huge fan of the 370's styling.

they tried to give you a porsche with that shape (not exactly a bad shape to copy, though)

yeah you're kinda right. but i think that porsche shape isn't the right thing for a 350z successor. maybe another nissan but not the 370z. In my opinion they should have looked at lamborghini and go the fighter jet way.

All good, just those fuckinf headlamps... they truely are the only thing that I would change on the car atm.

i don't know, it just reminds me the old model so much, it looks as a facelift despite being a new model. I like it, but it just remind me of the 350z too much. Especially those ugly door handles.

OH BOY! Nissan have nursed one hell of an ugly baby! What is up with those front lights? DAMN that is hideous!
November 11, 2008 8:01 pm
I'm sure some creative tuner will do something about that light...but other than that it looks nice. Just one look at it and you know that it is a Z. It has an iconic image of its own...isn't that a sign of a well designed car?

think of ssangyong... you know one of those when you see it, but the words "well designed" definitely dont spring to mind!

..one fat ugly car..bring back the 350z design...it looks weird, they tried to have a classic datsun design, but this one is sure ugly...omg

I'm reading everyone's comments. Some people like the new design and some don't. I can just say that I am REALLY curious to see the car in person. I've been amazed at how my reactions have changed once I've seen a model in person. One thing we can definitely say is that the look is polarizing. If there is a problem with several new car designs lately, it is that they don't stir an emotion one way or the other. The new design's proportions and overall feel definitely put me in the mind of the original Z's. In this sense, the new design is the most faithful out of all of them since the original.

I think the 350Z is much better! The front lights are ....well.... WEIRD! The front bumper is messy. The car looks like 350Z on too much fatty food. Back...well...again looks WEIRD!

Like the lamps, hate the lamps, it's all up to personal taste. Not everyone, regardless of age, looks at cars the same way. Some people see details, some see shapes and surfaces, some can't tell a Z from a Z4. No point in arguing or trying to establish "superiority of opinion." However, imho, Nissan deserves credit at least for a new and original look with the lights. After five years of every car from Kia to Bentley copying those Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS taillights (which copied their own GS lights, which copied the silly ovals in the 1996 Mercedes E-Class), it's nice to see something without circles for taillamps and the same clustered headlamps as everyone else. (Mercedes CL and Scion tC, anyone?) And at least this car pays homage to their iconinc 240Z without simply being a retro-xerox (Camaro, Challenger).

That's all fine and all but it really looks like a botched facelift to me... sure it took on a new shape (a la crossfire, well the hump on the back anyhow) but nothing about it strikes me as new. Just a 350Z with body-coloured headlight covers and a fugly shape.
