Rumors: Nissan GT-R Spec-V Release Date and Price

Nissan GT-R Spec-V pricing and date of launch is now almost a certainty

Breaking news! Nissan GT-R Spec-V has been priced. Or at least better "guesstimated". Earlier consensus had been that GT-R Spec-V's release date would be delayed for various reasons, including the current world economic downturn. Good news is that it hasn't. Bad news is the initially speculated price has gone up in real terms.

From a 13,000,000 Yen prediction to what is now 15, 000, 000 Yen (about USD 154,000 today or 122,500 Euros), the Spec-V is not exactly el cheapo. We certainly don't expect it to be, but hell, a little bit of affordability would be welcome. The car is expected at NISMO 2008 Festival in a couple of weeks, so a live visual will make our palms even sweatier. First deliveries will happen in February 2009 after an "official" release date of January.

The GT-R Spec-V will sport more power, less weight, more carbon fiber, more performance as the road-legal track version of GT-R.

Thank goodness they are offering it in black and white with carbon fibre all over. It just didn't look silly enough in the first place...

The standard GT-R costs about $100 000 to $130 000 in my country... (the exchange rate died because of the economic downturn lol)

Love the general idea of this car, but I'm not really feeling the design of it...That wing is hideous and the vent behind the door just looks out of place. Also kind of a shame that of these special editions (spec-v/LM) chances are good that neither of them will come with a third pedal.

usually the hideous cars are always the fastest ones. every noticed that? because every curve on the cars body has a function. veyron for example, not the nicest looking car but extremely fast. SSC aero, pretty nice, but some people still hate the cheap look of it... that weber 900hp sports car is prob the best example of function over form.

Do agreed. I rather spend extra money for the Porsche 911 Turbo. Way better looking and it is still the World Best Supercar.

I wonder how Honda is gonna do with the new NSX... their apparently gunning for the GT-R with a V10, probably based on their F1 version

That's what I'm waiting on. As the rumours go, it has already beaten the unofficial V-Spec's Ring time so they've aimed for the stars and tilted their scope up. The new NSX just seems to have more of an effect on me than the GTR; not sure why. Even if it was slower, I'd still take the NSX over the GTR and that's not saying that I don't love the GTR.

Yeah the NSX has always been hot and if it looks anything like the Acura concept I am also sold... rumour has it that their moving the engine to the front though but I'm sure they can make that work for them.

Still a machine for going fast, not a car that's exciting. I would rather have a 430 Scuderia or a 911 GT2 than this.

Im going to love watching this car, the SRT-10 ACR, a track ZR1(i hope), LP560, GT-2, F430S, and a couple others go at it in a track battle. All cars are great and i love most of them so it doesn't matter who would win, but it would be a great race to watch. Gotta love the car market.

Yes, I do agreed with MTC. Porsche 911 turbo will $hit over GT-R Spec V. Way too heavy and boxy fat ASS.

The standard GT-R is already faster than the 911t, the V-spec will wipe its @ss of the 911t!!
