Lease pricing has now surfaced for the all-electric MINI E, available exclusively to 500 customers in California, New York and New Jersey as part of a testing programme to ascertain whether full production is viable. The lease will run for 12 months at the cost of $850 per month, but with no fuel costs to prop up that monthly figure and all the development and production costs factored out, customers are getting more for their money.
A 2.5 hour average charge from a wallbox - to be installed for customers - will make the MINI E good for a 240 km or 150 mile range under 'combined' driving characteristics. The electric motor produces 150kW (200hp) of power and 220Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque to race the E to 100 kph (62 mph) in just 8.5 seconds and onto an electronically-limited top speed of 152 kph (95 mph). It goes without saying that the all-electric E produces zero emissions.
'Owners' will have the full support of highly-qualified MINI personnel who will oversee the vehicles during the lease period, after which all vehicles will be returned to the firm for in-depth analysis. Car maintenance details will be released to customers upon order.
