Lamborghini Estoque Concept

Four-door Estoque from Lamborghini set for 2011 production date

Estoque, the four-door Lamborghini concept we first saw at the Paris Motor Show, is headed for production in 2011 where its price tag will come in at less than £150,000. More than this, Estoque should offer a number of engine options including diesel.

When Autocar spoke to Lamborghini R&D boss Maurizio Reggiani, he said Estoque is a unique platform from Lamborghini, contrary to earlier speculation that it will share its underpinnings with the Audi A8. . "If," he said, "you consider the length of the wheelbase and the size of the wheels (the Estoque concept boasts 23 inch rims at the rear), this could not be an A8 floorplan."

What it will be though is a car notched above Porsche's upcoming Panamera and the Audi A7, good for a 500bhp-plus, 450lb ft of torque engine, probably the same 5.2-litre V10 currently working its socks off in other Lambo models. Lower down V8s are to be found, alongside a super diesel and possibly even a, hybrid. Lamborghini, like other motor brands, is under tremendous stress to reduce CO2 emissions and therefore takes the engine choice quite seriously, considering its heritage.

"We will never offer our super-sports cars with diesel engines," Reggiani said, "and we will never resort to turbocharging for those cars either; to do either would betray our heritage and customers, and for Murcielago and Gallardo we can make the savings in other ways.

"But the opportunity is there to develop a turbocharged, maybe even a diesel engine for Estoque, and since the car could be well-priced and could sell in quite large numbers for us, it's a big chance for us. No Lamborghini will ever emit 120g/km, but still we have to improve our figures and make progress."

The front is way to crazy, and not in a good way lol. Looks like it will be hard not to scrape the front end of this car. Also I hav a question: Should we expect all future lambos to come with these new interior buttons that look like they came out of a fighter jet? Its not bad looking but I was just wondering ;)

This car is actually a bargan. Instead of buying a challenger, a cls, and a vette you can just buy this car and you would be saving about $65K! ;) ;)

hmmm i didn't like it, it looks hmmm dunno what to say but i expected more from them. Why they did not take the design from the morcielago (sorry for the spelling) atleast it would be better looking than this one, the interior is fine and the buttons in the middle looks same as the jet fighter but the rear looks little bit same as the chllenger

the face is forgettable, the rest looks like a dodge, but i kinda like it. still think lamborghini has become too flashy and not too classy, but hey, there is a whole bunch of nouveau rich fellows waiting in line to get theirs. and then write a rap hit about it.

ya, that's alright considering there will only be like 1 of those cars on the roads compared to 100000 hatchbacks (in terms of its emissions). but their production date is crazy. this thing will only be selling in 2011. yeah like there'll be other competitors selling theirs like hotdogs before that date.

WHY WHY WHY??? Do we need those sedans from Lamborghini and Porsche those cars should always stay asa super car not a four door car. Whats next for Lambo an SUV? Please stop that.

Companies now have to adapt to their surrounding and Lambo cant be compared to Porsche. Porsche sold out years ago, and I think the cayenne killed their reputation as a sports car manufacturer. This is obviously not the Production model and the final product should look good and defeat any other 4 door out there.

Lambo already manufactured an SUV in the mid 80's, its called the Lamborghini LM002

"If," he said, "you consider the length of the wheelbase and the size of the wheels (the Estoque concept boasts 23 inch rims at the rear), this could not be an A8 floorplan." I smell bovine manure... So, if the car has longer wheel base and 23 inch rims, it's not the A8 platform!? Come on VAG, you mean to tell us the Continental GT is not an A8!? Or the Phaeton is not an A8!? I guess the R8 is not a Gallardo either...

the only things that are the same on the R8 and Gallardo are the transmission, electrical system and rear suspension. Everything else is different, also some guy from the Lambo said that they are going to put only up to 20% of Audi parts in their cars, so dont worry. And remeber Continental is not an A8, Continental is the Phaeton.

It's no problem if lambo produce a super SUV car but they should pay attention on te design. Lambo cars known as one of the most beautiful cars in the world but i don't know what happened to there brains when they design this Estoque!

I prefere Brabus Rocket over this Estique. It's more luxurious, more powerful and more beautiful.

After a disappointing first impression, I still find myself in disbelief that Lamborghini would put it's name on something this hideous. I get the part of about staying "in line" with it's heritage but the overall appeal of it's design is just too... American. It's big, it's bulky, it's odd. I don't like it!

"Making progresses in CO2 emissions" is a good thing, but what's the point in that if it's by using diesel engines? I mean, if they do that, it is that they want to increase their diesel offer! But didn't they just say they wouldn't?

Yeah not on their super-sports cars, aka the murcielago and gallardo. Porsche doesn't mess around it appears, it wants to become the best and biggest, pumping out the largest selection of vehicles to meet all market demands. Nobody even knew about this car being made, and then some photos came out, the concept came out 1 week after, and now they have announced production, talk about being on a mission.

That front end might look more at home on a sparkling green Honda Civic, neons lights aglow. Aside from that, I think it looks great from the sides/behind. I also really dig the Reventon lights.
