Yet the green light as been given for the production of the X1, X2, X4 and the F Series!! Its a shame all these models cannot be traded for a future 8 Series.

Couldn't agree more.Coldn't see a worst move from BMW.The 4 door-coupe market is rising more and more everyday, and the SUV market will likely to go downhill, and its already doing...and yet, BMW is flooding their lineup with useless/ugly/retarded SUV's.

well, we cant all get what we want mate, if there is going to be a BMW in the future it better be a pointless one, than not being at all (going bust).

This design is neat and new. It's refreshing, and I hope in the near future that they will give this concept a go.

Thank you BMW not making the world uglier place. Maybe they could take the current 7 -series out of production too LOL

I agree that the move is a prudent one. Perhaps BMW will concentrate more on their core products such as final development of the replacement for the 5-series sedan and touring. Making those core products the best possible vehicles while giving great consideration for overall value may help BMW weather the financial storm better than other luxury manufacturers.

Don't worry, it is good that they did bring the concept out. At least it shows that BMW is still king. It just doesn;t make business sense to bring this monster out, even if it is so drop dead gorgeous, unlike the ugly CLS. I just want to vomit when I see the CLS: normally driven by fat old men, who thinks that they are "cool" in a big Merc, where in fact the car is as ugly as hell. BMW is the best premium brand and to be the best doesnt mean that you have to beat every other car of the other premium brands. Take for example, audi is making huge loses on the overhyped R8. They thought that demand was going to be high and used stupid advertising phrases like R8 is the Audi that takes the longest time to produce - so what? It just shows inefficiency nd lack of skills and techno. People have finally realised that the R8 is a want to be, copied what BMW did successfully 30 years ago with the M1 and wants to claim victory, please. afterall, Audi i still a genuine VW - whatever tht means to you.

Oh dear, once again you have soiled yourself, that must have taken your full two brain cells to make up. I love the fact that BMW is "still the king" for producing a concept and not a production car. And that "old fat men" are the only ones who drive CLS's. They are a really great car in terms of styling but you wouldn't be able to tell that. After all, you think that the 7 series is the most beautiful car in the world. The R8 is a phenomenal success as well just so you know. There is a two year waiting list on them. One of the reasons they limit production is to keep exclusivity up. Something you wouldn't know anything about though. And comparing it to an M1 is just plain stupid (which suits you perfectly). Don't mind the fact that there have been sports cars around well before the M1, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, ever heard of them?

xenomorph, WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BE AGAINST ME? I WOULD APPRECIATE MORE IF YOU COULD JUST WAKE UP AND REALISE THAT BMW IS THE BEST, IT IS NO.1 AND NOT VW'S AUDI'S IMAGINARY POSITION IN THE PREMIUM MARKET. I don't think that the 7 Series is the best looking car. However it is much better looking than the S and A8 i.e. best looking in its class. The R8 looks like a rat when compared to Aston and the M1 30 years ago (by the way, just in case other Audi drivers think rats are good looking just because it is associated with Audi, most people on earth do not). If you call the CLS beautiful, then you're not looking at it properly or blind. It is huge, yes, but by no means is it attractive! It is ugly as hell. Look at the front and look at the back. (VOMIT!) To your R8 story: Do you really think that they cannot produce more than demand? Wake up, I have friends in the Audi Group and is extremely close to the Board of Management (by the way, they like BMWs more but it is just that Audi pays them much better AND BMW is cutting jobs - only bad thing), the reason why thy limit production is not because they cannot produce more, they have huge spare capacity. But if they produce more, they won;t be able to charge such a high price on the car! By the way, do you know what their margin on one unit is? Well last year the contribution margin per unit sold was about 68%. These are margins that you'd expect from Porsche and Lambo. But how did Audi manage to achieve that? Well, the supply less and raise artificial excess demand. Also, where do you come up with the figures of 2 years waiting list? It is a completely made up number. Waiting time depends on the number of units allocated for the specific country and at the moment, Audi is able to produce what is demanded. And just for the record, it doesn't take 2 years to build an R8. Maybe your dealership that you enquired at couldn't sell you an R8 and they were not allocated 1 or not compliant to sell that's why they made up the story of 2 years. It takes max a few months built to order. Another interesting factor about the 2 years story is that they make the product seem as rare as possible to milk most cash out of the customer. Most customers who say they ordered will get their R8 within a few months, but guess what, the dealers will just say that here's one that someone didn;t wan and this is the chance in your life to buy it now (i.e. you won't get it at the best price) - VW is a cash cow, milking customers that are not aware of their marketing tricks. I came acorss some terms that sum up the drivers and owners of the different brands: just wanted to share with you: As for Audi: "All of Us Desire Idiots" - shown by their idiotic behavior of chosing a VW standard car (AUDI) but paying full premium prices - "stupid idiots" Merc: "My Era Remains Continuous" - signally people who are a the end of their roads, holding onto thier desire for their legacy and times to continue into their future.

Really I can only feel sorry for someone who is so ignorant and isecure. If you really believe BMW is the best then you shouldn't be worried about competition. Its ok to be worried though, Mercedes and Audi are really leaving BMW behind in terms of styling, build quality and performance. Just look at the C63 for example; it gives the M3 a hard time just as the RS4 does. And I could only laugh at your pathetic attempts to compare the R8 to the ugly M1 fossil. You've shown that you?re not at the basic standard of intellect over the past few weeks, but claiming that the M1 has better styling than the R8 is just pathetic. As I said before it has been crowned world performance car and world design car of the year (something that BMW has yet to achieve). The facts stand for themselves and thankfully peasants like yourself aren?t part of the viewing board. You really are a tragic creature. You are not even worthy of BMW; you are just a fanatical pig who worships something they will never have.

Jealousy makes you nasty, nasty makes you fat, fat makes you ugly - that's what you are tying to tell everyone about yourself. Just to wake you up: BMW is the No.1 Premuim car company in the world. It sells most cars (i.e. most people admire their futuristic designs, innovative tech and all the good driving dynamics that makes BMW the car that the world cannot live withut. BTW, do you call the ugly audi TT, A4, A3 something that's beautiful? If so, you just have bad taste like the minority in this world that's buying audi (a VW product)

Why would you suddenly change from a BMW to a Mercedes? They are two different brands and if you are a BMw person, how can you change just like that to another "older" brand

I wonder why people change to Audi's, Bentley's, Lamborghini's and Porsche's, after all, they are just a VW product. Whats wrong with them BMW is the "king". Isn't that right GPKH, nothing else comes close.

Most of them change because they are so used to BMW and wanted a change. But as soon as they drive another car, they jump immediately back to BMW becasue they know it's the best. Exceot for those who have driven other premium cars that's not BMW but is too scared to experience a BMW, hence ignornace as they are scared they will have a change of heart and cannot live with the guilt of being disloyal. Understandable human nature

Gpkh. U are the biggest moran on this forum. Evry post of yours is the same. Bmw #1 VW sucks. We all know they are #1(the ultimate driving machine). My cousine worked for bmw and he loves it but he couldn't believe they had brand new Porsche cayenne stripped to pieces and every single part numbered. Look closely at the front looks like cayenne doesn't not. Bmw dropped their amaizing transmision and now they will have VW dsg idea in the cars. Bmw lost over 20% last month in sales becouse they are over priced and should be on Audi's level, they offer more for the money. Now your turn ripp it so I can lough at u. A.s.

Compete with what. R8's objective was to up the Audi image and not to make money. They achieved that. BMW's objective is now to boost profitability, not to up its image as it is already the highest. So it makes no sense to build a car to compete against the likes of CLS just for competition sake.

i hope BMW will get back on the line of fire and make good cars again, after all its one of the only auto manufacturers that pay attention to handling, preposition and build quality. they were going to add style to their cars too, but it would appear that they see saving their ass is more important and they r wont risk their future and i don't blame them; i am sad very sad but i don't blame their wise (stupid) decision.

I like your comment. Beautifully put together. Yes, a business must make money. But it must also make dreams come true. Peopl who are young now must look up to a car and say I want to drive that brand's car. And in order to do that, they need to bring out more concepts, more amazing vehicles, put more of their vehicles in movies. Audi has been doin that all along, leading to most graduates in Germany wanting to work for Audi and not BMW (previously) - this is a huge blow for BMW and I hope Management will realise that. BMw must make more cars (even if it's just concepts) that will blow people's minds away, cars that kids will put a poster of on their walls and create dreams of ownership in future. That's how a loyal customer base is first created. I think BMW is lacking in that department and maybe it is to do with their strategy of cutting costs

Clearly not enough to cover costs when it is a BMW. If it was an Audi, well, maybe because they'd just get the parts from a Polo or Golf and charge you a fortune. BMW is decent andwill not do that. What you get in a BMW is genuine BMW and that's that. True and honest.
