If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, the saying goes. Time and time again Porsche releases a range of cars that are clearly based on the 911 in front-end design, while the icon itself never really revolves but evolves, even then ever so gently. Curiously the images shown make for a 356-like look for the Boxster. When these “official” pictures (according to the anonymous source) of facelifted Boxster and Cayman surfaced through Autoweek, the Dutch website, a few whispers of “Photoshop” were heard.

Our friends at Carscoop then went on a mission to find these elsewhere. They only found changes in newly-fashionable LED lights on the bumper, the egg-shaped headlights, the dual exhaust pipes and tail lamps that look slightly different. So what do you think huh? Real or not?

Those lazy Porsche designers, why wont they just go back to the original 1993 Boxter concept car, it is far more beautiful

I swear... Porche facelifts and redesigns make for the most boring news in all of the car industry. The changes are so miniscule, that it's almost pointless. The whole "don't fix what isn't broken" approach can only last for so long before it ends up looking lazy and uninspired.

i cant stop laughing!!! leaked face lift images??? why bother???!!! when we know its going to look EXACTLY the same way that they have always looked; like a 911 witch have looked EXACTLY the same for 4000000 years.

Why ruin a beautiful design? It's been said before but I'll say it again, Porsche's sales would decrease if they drastically modified the classic style of their cars. I'm more than happy for them to look similar. They're a timeless design.

Also remember that their classic design has very low drag.

You guys need to stop saying low drag. It is not low drag compared to todays standards. 911's have higher drag ratios than some 4 door cars!!!!

pzigly, thats not the point. 4 door sedans should be more efficient because the longer length makes it easier to design a car that can cut through air more efficiently. With a shorter car its much harder to achieve and usually the have more compromises.

Porsche is classic like nike airforce1, yes it doesn't change much , but quality gets much better and so does technology and the car is always beutifull

I think you summed it up nicely. Just start calling them "technical" or "functional" upgrades. But really...some of the best and most cherished things in the world haven't changed in design much since they were introduced. Take watches from Rolex, Breitling, Patek Phillippe etc...and also other luxury items such as Hermes bags, John Lobb shoes, the classic Burberry trench coat, Levi's 501, Converse shoes, Rayban aviators, Parker Duofold pen... there are so many things in the world that are still the same after decades of existence...and it doesn't change because it is what it is.

That is why I love Porsches...it just keeps getting better adapting the technology of the times...but it is still essentially the same Porsche that was born long time ago.

I guess it is an acquired taste...or maybe I am just getting old...

The problem is that 911 has changed the 80's cars were beatiful until the best one the 993, then they changed the front, the tail and the lights and haven't been able to build a car that doesn't look pimped.

pimped isn't really the way i'd describe porsche's since the 993.

looks like genuine computer renderings.. probably updating rear and front with leds which is a good thing.. extensive facelifts only happen when the previous design was a flop, which is far from being the case, plus in this upscale segment you don't want to upset customers that own the previous version, period
