Latest round of spy photos catches the Porsche Panamera nearly undisguised in San Francisco.

With the official site now live and the introduction drawing close, Porsche seems to have let the security surrounding the Panamera four-door sedan relax a bit. Flickr user Hysterical Bertha caught a nearly undisguised Panamera prowling the streets of San Francisco recently. Apart from some black tape and a bit of chrome tape to change the greenhouse lines, the vehicle in the photos appears to be a production-ready Panamera. The lines are by now familiar to Porschephiles and all of the enthusiasts waiting eagerly, nervously or cynically for the car to debut in Geneva in March 2009.

Current speculation calls for powerplants to be shared with the Cayenne, giving the rear-drive Panamera a choice of 385- or 500-horsepower 4.8 liter V8 engines under the hood.

I really like the front but the rear looks rather odd/bulbous. I know Porsche is trying to stay true to form here, but the design execution of the back end is going to take some time to get used to. The tail lights look rather large too. I do like it though.

This looks like unfinished product The rear passenger window just does not look right there is plenty finishing touches that needs to be put in. Altjough I dont see the purpose for this car.

It's still wearing some camouflage, so of course it doesn't look good.

ITS SOOOOOO UGLY!!!! It doesn't match or look natural at all. It just looks like a stretched porsche.

Looks like a Ford Mondeo station wagon. No, sorry, that looks better than this. I know it still has camouflage, but you can see past it now. The body shape on the whole isn't covered with moulding. It's the ugliest excuse for a four-door I've ever seen. Cars costing three times less look sooo much better. The sad thing is Porsche will never learn the meaning of 'ugly', because no one will ever teach them. Because stupid saps with lots of money will keep buying them, even if they all look exactly the same. Case in point: Cayenne!

"I think it looks like a badunkadunk." "What's a badunkadunk?" "It's junk in the trunk." seriously looks like it was depressed so it compensated by eating lots of cake to feel better and now at has a "tremendo culo," a butt so big that the fat nutty professor would say, "damn that's a big butt!"

A massively covered rear, a good-looking front - and you people seriously dare to judge about it?

porsche will sell tons and will reel in the cash. the germans keep swallowing companies that are willing to sell themselves to survive like Lamborghini, Rolls- Royce, Bentley, Mini, etc. Shows whos the boss in these parts. Its a porsche pal.

Heard from a very reliable source that this car in the flesh is a LOT prettier than the spy photos have everyone imagine. Apparently it's gorgeous.

I must admit that back has grown on me, i'd like to see the finished product with some fitting 20" wheels. Should be a great hit.

This car sucks!!!.... i'm a porsche fan and no matter what you say this car is simply ugly

what a mess! seriously. even if there are some covered parts you can tell the overall shape looks f**ked up. This is was happens if you try to make a 4 door 911. Everybody is so used to the 911 shape that you simply can't do it right. it is almost looking comical.

I wonder what will happen when this car is done, how the porsche tuners like RUF, Rinspeed etc will tune this car. Can it get more uglier than this or something else.

the roofline is just so hideous. camouflage or no camouflage, you can clearly see how roofline ends in the back cutting any notion of flow in this design. Given that lately Porsche has done an awesome job with their design, i think this may be their ugly duck of the family. not a Big deal, everybody has them. I mean this car supposed to be slotted somewhere between still gorgeous CLS and even more gorgeous Aston Martin. and when you look at the choices available, somehow word "Porsche" escapes me.

The Panamera is way out of its league it terms of design, if it wants to compete with the Aston Martin and the CLS. I am guessing they are going for the Aston Martin performance for a price slightly more than a CLS, maybe???

Now i know why they keep the general design concept for all there cars, because they cant design anything that looks remotely different and that looks good, it might take a while to get used too, just hope we don't see it next to the cayman s, well thats my opinion

Both the side and rear look terrible! The front is too ordinary. This car will definitely be a burden for Porsche during the global financial crisis. Good luck!

Please! Reconsider the design!

I remember a lot of people said the Cayenne was ugly... then it became one of Porsche's best selling models. I'll wait for the official photos with zero camo before I judge the styling of the car.

Now i'd like to see the rumored "new" 928 2+2 GT car that could be based on the Panamera's platform.

yeah i still think the cayenne is ugly as hell

Repeating what I said earlier, its something to consider: "Heard from a very reliable source that this car in the flesh is a LOT prettier than the spy photos have everyone imagine. Apparently it's gorgeous."

The rear... sometimes i like it and sometimes i hate it... but the true is very different to the other options you have in the market...

the front looks fine - the official revealed photos show that they managed to pull off the stretched 911 look really well. that back end though... it just doesn't look natural. it looks like a wagon trying to be a coupe - if it had an elongated rear end it'd probably look fine but this just doesn't work for me...

After studying the rear closely and separating the real vehicle lines from the camo, this car is gonna look stunning. I'm excited about the final reveal. Should make a lot of people feel foolish for their uninformed responses though.

completely unimpressive, ugly even, but it is a mule. seems that whenever porsche puts 2 more doors it destroys everything

i didn't like this car, but i just seen a pic on autoexpress and i hate to admit it but if it looks like this it might be alright http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/229926/porsche_saloon_reveals_all_or_does_it.html

just when i look at these pics though the rear looks squarer which works but we'll just have to see when the bring it out we wont we.
