I was actually considering leasing a GTI after my current Jetta lease expires. Hope the NA version has a much better engine selection. I'm also not too fond of the body.

this golf is a peace of crap and it is very expensive! I prefer the new Renault Megane much better! vw is a car for old people and people without any imagination!

the GOLF in his segment is a class of its own, simple as that.

WTF a crap? It is a car as two Renaults in my home are. Golf feels even no bland anymore!

the megane coupe vs the golf 3-door, the megane wins every time. low end meganes have better power, better spec better fuel economy, bigger boot...
unlessyou want to chuck it round corners and burn rubber I'd go with the Megane

Renault is DEAD.I'd go with the golf and don't forget that Renault is one of most unreliable car on the planet and they're closing may plants and firing thousand employees not due to the financial crysis but to the very poor laguna sale.

And still no bloody word or images of the new Jetta facelift. Well, I guess it would be safe to assume it will have the same headlights, grill, basically front end of the Golf, with the same back end. Except it will be a saloon and not a hatch.

jetta is scheduled for mid 2009 together with the variant, as far as I remember.

So the Jetta is going to be a seperate car and not a copy of the hatch in saloon form?
Is there any news or information I can relate your comment to in terms of when the new Jetta is scheduled to be unveiled?

I dont think it looks dull. Actually the newer Golfs look quite nice. I would like to see the new GTI-R.

Lol! There are worlds between a Golf and a Megane! If you concider buying a megane do so but please don't write your comments down on a website for car-lovers.

depends on what you love your cars for...
but when I see people paying more for VWs I laugh when I think what we pay for Renaults and Citroens because there is no real difference

I see this Golf as piece of car really. Golf VI looks better than previous one and yet: since Golf I, somevhere from seventies this car have been always a car, never piece of junk.

This a boring version of the new golf. You can hardly tell the differance between old and new. Vw's definetly trying to save money in there design department
