UK Pricing for Ferrari California Starts at ?143K
Ferrari California / Ferrari

Slots between F430 hard-top and spider

UK fans of the Ferrari California who haven?t yet put down their deposits on the latest Ferrari craze, now have the opportunity to do so as pricing has been announced. The 4.3-litre V8 California will be going for a sweet ?143,000 which fits it in between the F430 tin top and its spider brother. An interesting proposition given that the California is essentially both cars in one.

California?s V8 gives 460 bhp at 7500rpm with an emissions figure of 310 g/km, which of course would never be allowed had it not been such an exclusive vehicle. It is said to be able to zoom from standstill to 100km/h in under 4 seconds, amazing considering its 1735kg weight penalty borne by such items as the roof?s folding mechanism as well as its 7-speed double-clutch transmission.

Good luck trying to shed yourself of that ?143,000 since the car?s already sold out for the next two years. Perhaps you may want to try one of those opportunistic speculators who paid for one a while ago and is now looking to sell at considerably higher than the asking price?

I'll still take this over a 430, it's a hard-top convertible, what more could u want, coupe in the winter and convertible in the summer!

Oh yeah, let me get it in red, you can't possibly get a ferrari and not get it in red. It just doesn't make sense.

I thought it was meant to be a baby Dino style Ferrari to slot in below the 430 and challenge the V8 Vantage and 911. Is it aimed as a cruiser alternative to the rawer 430?

Top gear is so so biased. In their eyes only Brit cars are good. The rest are rubbish. J Clarkson is the most biased and the other two at least play fair especially Hammond.

Clarkson has been heard criticising British cars... (Time 1:42) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr9PJa0VcR4 It's just a show act, just following what's written in the script...

I'm pretty sure Jeremy knows it and he isn't sorry about that at all!! What I like about TG firstly because Jeremy is simply honest about his review on most of cars he's driven and secondly because he and everyone else don't give a s**t about some opinionated haters' distractive reviews. It's British car TV show, why not being for British. BTW they're making American and Australian TG to patronise those nations' viewers.

How is Clarkson totally biased toward British cars? Because he's in love with the newer Astin Martins? People all around the world feel the same way. It's not just him, and it's not just England. Furthermore, if you're a frequent viewer of the show, you'd know that some of his top all-time favorite cars aren't British at all. Ferrari, as he's said countless times, is actually his favorite brand, which totally contradicts your statement. He may think the California isn't the prettiest car, but he's a huge, huge fan of the F40, 360, F430 and Enzo. To add to his top favorites, Mercedes-Benz, paticularly the older models, are often praised, too.

I can?t believe that this piece of crap costs almost as much as the Gallardo 560-4. The Gallardo has 100hp more and has a CO2 emission of only 328g/km, 18g more than this. Not to mention how much better it looks, and you can get one in less then 2 years time.

Or you could also get a Bentley Continental GT for ?120,000

I agree, it is a grower, but I don't like fact that the tailpipes are fakes. That isn't what Ferrari should be doing and it concerns me about the focus of this car.

Now this car is pointless. In the price of the ?90K this Ferrari might be have a reason. Who prefers that car to the F430? But beautiful it is, in fact!
