Much to the delight of Dunlop, the drama continues as Nissan offers up circumstantial evidence with the actual standard tires used in their record setting Nurburgring run earlier this year in addition to a second video. After 'Ring testing their own GT-R purchased from the U.S., Porsche accused the Japanese auto maker of perpetrating fraud by using non-standard, semi-slick tires when it was unable to come close to Nissan's lap time. Late last week Nissan responded in a statement that cheekily recommended following proper break-in procedures and offered to give all prospective GT-R owners as well as auto manufacturers GT-R driving lessons.
Nissan's showing of the tires is a defiant gesture but still proves very little. However, the video shows the 50kg test equipment, although not in the car, further putting the GT-R at an additional handicap. Nonetheless, the video which includes some Japanese language dialog runs 12 minutes with the full record run footage starting at 4 minutes.
Surely, we haven't heard the last of this dispute. Hopefully, it will end up in an independently monitored battle royale between Porsche and Nissan in the 'Ring.
