I had an imagine of that, when I was young they portrayed the future (in movies) as something too futuristic. Cops had their own crazy cars while we had our regular machines. scary.

It's quite apparent that the whole idea of this vehicle is eluding you two. Fire Fighters have a vehicle designed with what they have to do in mind, which is fight fires. Law enforcement uses mostly just 3 cars, and they are very shoddy. The Crown Vic is just a massive beast, too long, but Ford is talking about discontinuing it. The Chevy Impala is just horrid... the transmission is a POS, and when you see it you can't help but laugh a little. The Dodge Charger is mean looking, sounds nice, and is quicker than the other two. But the brakes on the Charger are terrible. The whole idea of this vehicle is to serve the Law Enforcement Officers that server you. To alleviate some of their worries about their current vehicles. The price of a Charger with the Police Package that is fully equipped for the department is about $28,000. That is the goal price that Carbon Motors is trying to get to, but I am willing to bet it will still be more for a while. The sad thing is, like when the Chargers came out, the actual police that are patrolling won't get them, and the people higher up that don't even patrol will.

Meanwhile, in countries that are not America, they actually have decent cars for the job (sometimes), well in Europe basically, not most other places. I still think this is too fancy and frivolous to be a realistic proposition. No one will buy it. Except maybe Hollywood. Ha ha, "ergonomically correct cockpit", hahahah, does this mean the steering isn't operated from the back seat?

why not a station wagon concept??? the limo concept is very limiting... in a station wagon there's much more space to fit big stuff like traffic cones and that stuff...
or a mercedes transporter, seats 2 in the front with comfort, is fast enough for highway use, and fits a whole SWAT team if needed...

The UK police drive 5-series BMWs and Range Rovers. I only ever see North America choose the most rubbish cars they know as police cars. What's wrong with lighter, faster mainstream models with beefed up brakes and the like to cope with the pace?

What happens when they are past their useful life as a Police car? They get scrapped? Unlike now where they are converted back to 'civilian' cars and sold at auctions. This is the reason most UK Police cars are now silver, it makes them easier to sell on ;)

Here in U.S the COP cars are used as TAXIs after the 100,000-150,000 miles or are sold to public cheap. Its too expensive to get MB or BMW You cant compare the amount of crime in U.S and Europe. The cars here wear out more and police need cars that are cheap to fix. This car will probably never make it because Ford and Chevy wont loose their contract with Police. This is the only entity that still buy thos POS cars.

i agree with 911fanatic, the U.S. has become a police state... and even in a routine traffic check people get treated like any criminal....

and the dangerous habit of pulling people over on the shoulder of highways... most severe accident happen that way, someone falls asleep @ the wheel, and slams into the cars parked on the shoulder...
like in europe, police stops should only be allowed on off/ramps or rest areas/gas stations... and the stupid chase thing should also be outlawed... how many people have gotten injured or killed in those chases...???
