Such a dismissive comment Fire_Bird. This is hardly the Nissan Murano... do an image search and you will see several differences, namely the lack of a visible C-pillar.

I am impressed with this design, and the collaborative effort shown by the design team in relation to a lesser known brand. I am curious to know if this car will come to the US; I think it would be an appealing entry. This also struck me after seeing the poorly executed, boring designs from this brand at the NAIAS this year. This vehicle looks light years ahead of what I saw, and might prove to be a significant sign of the times in relation to manufacturing and development. Time will tell. Peace!

Where did you see a Ssangyong at the '08 Detroit Auto Show? They did not have a display, IIRC.

looks good. their current model rexton doesnt look bad either. and they use old merc engines. so definitely a good cheap option

Has Ken Greenley been sacked? By the way, Ssangyong already produce passenger cars: the Chairman is one based on the previous shape Merc E-class.

It's nice to see the great Chinese art of the shameless ripoff hasn't faded. Great job taking Audi A5 head & tail lamp cues from the A5 adn Q5, and add a bit of Mazda CX-7 in with it, and there you go! The truly international car, Japanese styling, German design elements, Italian passion, Sophistication par cheap American, and Chinese quality and innovation! It's the Cosmopolitan SUV!

They really really need to change that name if they want to sell in Europe or America, it really sucks.

Not bad for Ssangyong, that design is so much better than the Rodius, which gives me cataract every time I see it.
October 7, 2008 7:45 am
Has anyone laid eyes on a Rodius or a Kyron? Those things look like they have been made from the combined remains of trucks and hatchbacks from the early 1970s. This thing is awesome in comparison.

I can't help but laugh at all the anti-asian comments. I'd bet my testicles that if this were by a "major" brand, everyone would be "OMG THIS IS AWESOME *heart*heart*heart* I LOVE IT!!!"
If you don't have anything better to say but mindless bashing, kindly stfu, kthx.

Lekz, you're missing the point. If it was by a European firm, we wouldn't be saying we hate it, because they wouldn't be copying it. It would be more original. I don't think it's ugly per se, my issue is with the shameless styling rip-offs, and lack of originality.

Relative to other Ssangyongs this car is the equivalent of a supermodel.
LOL it definitely looks better than the X1; such a sad thing.
