so it's like a hybrid without the battery? or kinda like a hybrid? I know that there's some engines out there that switches some cylinders off for fuel economy :P

Only engine used between BMW/Peugeot is that in the Mini/207/308 etc. Both built separately apart from diesel which is a Pug diesel stuck straight in at the Mini plant
