Ferrari California gets Advanced Unveiling to Lucky Audience Ahead of Paris
Ferrari California

Officially the Ferrari California will make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show next month, but that doesn't mean a select audience couldn't get a glimpse of the model in advanced. Last night the Italian sportscar maker unveiled the model simultaneously in two locations: Maranello and Los Angeles, each venue holding 1000 specially invited guests.

Current Ferrari F1 drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were on hand to help with the launch along with former F1 star Michael Schumacher who had a heavy hand in the development of the model.

The California slots in at the bottom of the Ferrari portfolio just below the Scaglietti 612, it is powered by new 460 hp 4.3-Liter V8 Engine placed in the mid-front position of the car and features direct fuel injection and a “flat” crankshaft. Iut is mated to a brand new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission system which enables the California to launch from 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds.

Head on over to the the Ferrari California website to see a video of the unveiling for yourself.

What was so advanced about it? Were they lowered into the hall by spaceships?

There is nothing "advanced" about this pos, at least in terms of styling. I think the word WCF is looking for is "advance", not "advanced".

I find this car quite pathetic. With the roof up it looks alrightish, but than again roof down it has a massive butt.. Gotta agree with MC959, it is kinda Japanese, Supra-ish:D I think it will also ruin Ferrari´s image a little. It´s like a Ferrari Boxter...

Couldn't agree more with Lamborghini about the California being like the Boxter version for Ferrari. But i think they did that to make more money. Its not like they dont make enough without the California, but why not make allot more! As for Ferraris image is concerned, i believe it would take much more to ruin the image. What really would ruin the image would be making an SUV or four door saloon like Porsche and Lamborghini are doing.

Ofcourse they are making it to make more money and that is exactly what I´m talking about. Look at what Porsche has become just because they wanted to make more money.. But you are right,"ruining" the image is a bit harsh, but it will do no good to the image. I agree with you about the Panamera, but fortunately Lamborghini is not making a 4 dour, they´re most probably doing an Espada-like 4 seater 2 door. But let´s wait and see what happens in Paris.

4 seater 2 door....... WOW that would be amazing for Lamborghini. So kind of like the 612 Scaglietti from Ferrari. Thats soo cooool, i reallly hope ur right, really do. That would kill any (luxury/sport) coup, like the CL's, M6, Bentley Gt, and the Masarati GT for example. They could really kill in that class.

Ferrari inspired by Toyota. Well done. And meanwhile, we all talk big about what cars are better than others when the problem lies in the chip on our shoulders.

Wow im not sure what some of you people are smoking? 1. Boxster- Huge Sales success 2. Cayenna porsche SUV- Huge Sales success 3. Ferrari california- actually looks good has a basic 599 shape but overall very livable easy to drive expensive summer car. IT WONT ruin its image and ferrari will gain a huge amount of cash 4. As long as the model is a success and continues to sell, i dont see how it can bring a name down Bottom line its about time Ferrari did this and it will be a huge success! Lamborgini is now behind- they have to play catch up. Also this gives ferrari more cash to ADVANCE! Also the looks great! easy no i-drive simple but functional. Excellent job ferrari!

Here, we all take sides, pledging allegiance to one brand over another because we are all trying so hard to be special. Your words JTZ, wise as they are, is akin to throwing pearls to pigs, or worse, rice to potato eaters.
