Press Release (Click to expand)

Peugeot 888 by Oskar Johansen (Norway)

The Peugeot 888 is the personal vehicle for the future Metropolis. The car carries two persons and medium amount of luggage. This is the car for travelling within the city and to the suburbs, for daily driving and weekend cruising.
When driving in the city the vehicle has the ability to ”shrink”. The center of the cars profile has a hydraulic tilting system that rises the car, making the distance between the wheel axis decrease. This results in a rised up cockpit which enhance the drivers traffick overview. The short wheel axis distance will also increase the manouverability in narrow places making the car able to take a sharp u-turn. A short wheel axis distance also makes it easier to find a suitable parking space.
When leaving the city, entering the highway the vehicles requirements alter to ”need for speed” Lowering the vehicle to a closed shape, the car gets a long distance between the wheel axis and a low point of gravity which gives the car stability at high speed. The cockpit lies down and the driver gets a more cruising position.
The seats has got joints that partially follows the cars movements from city-mode to highway-mode.
The vehicle is powered by an electric engine in each wheel. The engines are powered by a lithium-ion batteries located in the trunk. For additional battery charging, the trunk is covered with solar cells
The name ”888” is illustrated by three numbers, one vertical, one diagonal and one horizontal. The last number creates an infinity symbol, symbolizing the vehicle being environnementaly conscious. The three numbers also symbolize the movement of the car, changing from city mode to highway mode.
GALapagos by Igor Yastrebov (Russia)

GALapagos project shows the evolution of Vehicle for the future. It can be adopted to any road situation, that can happens in the MEGALOPOLES with transformable wheel base. GALapagos can be Motor bike with narrow weel base or can be a real comfortable car for two passengers.

Seed by yann terrer (France)

(auto translated from French by google)

It is called Seed. Seed as the seed. With it, a global concept of individual displacement in urban but also terminal will hatch. Small, bi-place, electric, retractable, flexible, it moves quietly, without CO2 emissions and station as a flower, with its sisters, once we finished it.
Seed respects the environment and preserve social harmony is a car sharing. It takes at any time, at the base, the location and based on a collective response to individual needs. Each retains its freedom of movement. Seed liquefied traffic in the city.
Modular, it unfolds and folds: roof, rear, front s'escamotent in a compact oval. For parking, Seed will join the "Silver Point", a concept of storage-shaped flower where each vehicle, is "petal". Interactive, it incorporates a tone, passing near the terminals and indicates their filling.
Car citizen, Seed combines a footprint minimized to a maximum economic efficiency. It addresses the problem of parking in organizing vertically and allows free public space. Seed also makes possible the mobility of many while allowing communities to resolve the issue of urban traffic.
Seed, the new concept car that will flourish in the city and sprouting of new behavior.

RD by Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar (Colombia)

(auto translated from Spanish by google)

Designed for large routes from one point to another of the MEGAPOLIS, RD operates mainly through a linkage which not only gives direction but also makes it capable of compacted during times of high traffic and low speeds, thus the car is low at high speed in the driver's cab, the rudder remains permanently anchored to the pan and displays the information needed during a trip by voice orders by the driver.
RD is primarily a vehicle to enjoy

P.R.O by Ke Guo (China)

  • P-Peugeot

  • R-Revolution

  • O-Formula racing car

The inspriration behind this concept car was to creat a water drop-liked vehicle, which ensured a good aerodynamic and minimized the energy expended.
The highlight of the exterior design is the 180°full view window door ,and the main idea of the engineering design is come from the Formula racing car.

ego by Emre YAZICI (Turkey)

Peugeot EGO has been conceived as a lean vehicle in every aspect. It is easy to own, easy to maintain, and easy to operate. And, most importantly, it is easy on the environment. The majority of the vehicles at the rush-hour in a big city, carry a single passenger. EGO is designed for a single passenger. Its overall weight, which is close to the quarter of the weight of an economy class four-door sedan, makes the electrical-only propulsion feasible. Why using four wheels when only two is enough? EGO has only two wheels. Nevertheless, thanks to the closed body design, it is the safest of all two-wheel transport systems. Unlike the other two wheeled applications it is immune to the changes in weather. So unlike the other two wheeled applications, you can drive it throughout the year, in hot, cold or wet days, indifferently. The unique compact design, having a fixed foot-print with and without the access doors opened, requires only one-third of the parking space that an economy class four-door sedan does. The flexible windshield, which also embodies a unique “head-up-display”, serves as the entrance by rolling into the drum at the back of the vehicle. Similarly, the trunk door rolls under the floor when opened. The transparent “head-up-display” integrated in to the windshield, displays the position of the traffic at close proximity, as well as the other conventional navigation information. Steering is performed by independently changing the rotational speed of the wheels. So, u-turns at the same spot is possible. The agility of EGO has virtually no match. Say good-bye to the clumsy and unsafe steering wheel, and also to the pedals. The driver employs a joy-stick to perform the manoeuvres, and to control the speed simultaneously.

Vision by Shinji Nukumi (Japan)

The main concept of this vehicle is "co-existing with the enviromnent".

MoVille by Woo-Ram Lee (France)

MoVille is a vision of Peugeot for the Megapolis of tomorrow. MoVille is a compact single passenger vehicle with artificial intelligence and zero-emission drive train. It is unmistakably Peugeot.
Economic Efficiency
MoVille consists of a single passenger capsule over an electric drive train. Three magnetic ball wheels are rotated without frictionless through electromagnets. Passenger capsule is shaped in an aerodynamic teardrop shape for maximum efficiency. It also tilts up and down for saving space in urban streets and become more aerodynamic on highways.
Social Harmony
MoVille’s compact size takes up less space in dense urban cities. Because it has a sliding window door, it is easy to get in and out of in tight spaces. The passenger capsule tilts vertically to save space on the road and pivots for getting in and out.
MoVille features wireless road networking that allows for it to communicate with other cars and the road network. It is aware of where it is on the road and where other cars are. This allows for reduced traffic jams since cars can accelerate/decelerate synchronously. It also reduces the possibility of accidents.
MoVille’s small size and omnidirectional wheels means it is easy to park. Equipped with proximity sensors, cameras, and GPS, MoVille can drive and park automatically.
MoVille features an organic led display on the façade that allows passengers to communicate and personalize their own cars. Because MoVille doesn’t need any headlamps, the OLED “eyes” are used for displaying vehicle status (running/charging/turn signal/etc).
Interactive Mobility
MoVille has an artificial intelligence which allows it to act more like a robot than a car. MoVille recognizes its owner and opens its doors when you approach it. MoVille can drive itself allowing the passenger to save time.
Although MoVille can drive itself, it can be manually controlled with your digital devices like cellphones and portable game consoles. MoVille communicates with these devices which allow the car to be driven wirelessly. The dashboard can be retracted on demand.
Environmental awareness
MoVille has an electric drive train that uses electromagnets to rotate the ball wheels. Because there is no mechanical transmission and internal combustion engine, it is more efficient, and more reliable. MoVille’s compact body is built out of unpainted biodegradable plastic.
MoVille’s unique form factor allows it to integrate a second sliding door with integrated photovoltaic solar cells which can recharge the car’s batteries.

OXO by LOU KE (China)

I don't think this type belonged "20?" "30?" or "90?",so i give the name "x0x",but the car shape is more like "oxo",so it is. A electric power car.
The car looks like a toy because the color is no stress just like tomorrow life, naive and freedom.
Then you must drive a car with out learning how to drive it. The "oxo" is one of this type.
Drive the car is easy than in games, with the "PEUGEOT Phone" help, the car can be controled or autorun. The "X" system inside is save the space when the car parking, and through narrow or crowded street. The car wheel allowed the car lateral movement, rotate in-situ,and so on..
With the nimble and smart friend help, you must have a perfect tomorrow.

Rugir by Onur GÜVENC (Germany)

Subject: City car of the 21st century
Objective: Designing Peugeot’s 21.st century city car structure.
There have been planned two tires for leading and energy purpose in the front and an independent spherical system in the back to allow a brisk and audacious movement of the car in the city in Rugir. In designing Rugir, the lion, which is the symbol of Peugeot, was reflected to the vehicle for which one’s choosy perception was used. In addition, the strength and stature of the lion was amended to Peugot’s structure. A further conception in Rugir was to imitate the sound of the motor as the lions roar. Furthermore, another aim was also to add the lions spirit except of its shape to Rugir (Electricity is thought to be used for Rugir as energy source).
Content: For city use, vehicle for two people.

I hope they award the 10K Euros to a person that can design a car that can actually make it to production in the next 5 to 10 years, as opposed to these science fiction fantasy cars that look better hovering than on the ground.

Agreed. Not only that but I would rather stick with my sister's Polo than one of these when it gets made as a full sized concept. I don't know why, but to me these designs all just look blank faced and like it speaks in a monotone. They look like the most boring drives I have ever seen. And like wtf- how are you supposed to have responsive steering when the wheel is hanging from the ceiling?

Common guys, this is a design competition, not a next-model production project. Pretty neat future concepts. It shows the FREE designers mind these days which we will probably see examples of in the streets in some 30-40 years. Keep on freestyling! ;)

Glad to see some like-minded people... you know what the sad thing is? Chances are that the cars that probably would have sold in the real world didn't make it through to the finals.

The designer should not be the only one to blame, the person that signs off the design is just as guilty.
