This BMW Z4 prototype has been spotted on numerous occasions over the past few months, but this is the first time the engineers have let the top down for some fresh air driving giving us our most in detail look yet of the all new styling.
The current 3-series provides the platform and it will also inherit much of its award winning line-up including the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six from the 335i and we are likely to see the Z4 powered by a diesel for the first time.
The exterior design shows a more elegant outlook to it in comparison to the outgoing model, it has been inspired by the CS Concept with its wide twin kidney grille giving the model a wider look overall and from the prototypes spotted we believe the overall length of the vehicle will grow by a couple of inches
The new Z4 will be available with either a lightweight soft-top or a heavier fully retractable hard top version as well, it well help the model better compete with rivals such as the Mercedes SLK which comes with a retractable hard-top as standard.
