Despite no official details or pricing released, Ford UK has received 1000 customer orders for the Ford Focus RS following its conceptual debut at British International Motor Show in July. It was announced at BIMS that the Focus RS would be available in early 2009. So far 40 per cent of the applicants requested the unique Electric Green shade of the London Show vehicle. Other popular requests were Frozen White and Electric Blue.

Powering the new Ford Focus RS is a specially developed 300PS version of Ford’s Duratec 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine making 440Nm of torque. 0-100km/h is under 6.0 seconds and top speed is +260 km/h.

I saw this car at the british motorshow, and it simply looked stunning. Even in that colour. Has to be my favorite modern Ford.

Best looking performance hatch from the European Ford stable ever, my new dream car.

why don't they sell this car in US? I don't think it'll affect mustang sales. they are completely different markets....

Keeping it FWD was a mistake in my opinion! They can brag about how stable the chassis is or the limited slip diff all day but torque steer will be there for sure...

torque steer can and is designed out of many modern cars, it is a nasty byproduct of poorly thought out steering/suspension layouts in fwd cars. Hp just exaggerates the phenomenon when you have a bad design. Don't judge this car until the verdict is out on whether or not it has torque steer.

hey does an LSD help torque steer or no?? (cuz this car has one i think)

True i think it should be something like AWD with 70% rear and 30% front.

They need to make a 4door sedan version too and bring it to the states since most people here don't like hatchbacks and I'm sure it will sell.

hahah well someone just killed this car :P the RS has always been a hatchback and always will be a hatchback... a sedan RS focus would be so ugly man. also.... the focus we get here in north america is pure crap lol. almost every test complained about how ugly it was

The Ford Focus in the US is sooooooooooooooo ugly! I thought I might be interested due to the decent mpg's....then I saw the lackluster design and have come to the conclusion that Ford is trying real hard to make itself irrelevant in the USA.

It's better then the new Subaru Impreza The STI version or WRX version.

Better in what ? Price ? Cheaper interiours ? Or looks ? Maybe... But it's never better in performance or handling terms.

If Ford brings this to the states, and they won't, they'll neuter the engine and give us the same bland styling as always and a hatch body that we won't buy. Make a coupe or sedan with AWD and you might be on to something. Leave the hatch in Europe.

like every body said , it's look good but the problem are FWD, and we don't have the 5 cylinder 2.5L for Ford in canada and usa (VOLVO only) and the hachback!!! too much civic hachback in america LOLL sorry for bad english

They should make test between the Subaru WRX version or STI version so we can judge which one is better. Ford is cheaper then Subarus.

FWD? Big mistake with all that power. Remember Alfa Romeo's 147 GTA? They should have taken a cue from BMW. Even Audi now make their RS4 quattros handle like a RWD car (an M3).

However, even with that lurid Incredible Hulk-green colour, it will still sell like hot cakes. Auto testers (eg TOP GEAR, FIFTH GEAR, AUTOCAR) will have the final say.

I like the in-your-face design though.
