The platform for the Saab 9-4x was originally developed to be shared with the Cadillac SRX, but from an early stage the two projects went in different directions. First images and details of the Cadillac version has already been released ahead of its unveiling in November, however the Saab 9-4x has been found lagging behind.

Prototypes spotted in the past have sported a thick layer of camouflage making it difficult to spot much of the design details but these latest shots caught by our spies this week reveal even more of the Saab DNA that is hiding beneath.

The new 9-4x will be a sporty looking SUV with a style that ing draws strong inspiration from the acclaimed Aero X concept. No word on when we are likely to get the official details but the Detroit Auto Show in January looks a good bet for its unveiling.
