i really dont see whats so cool about this car. the design is ordinary especially from the rear and the profile. mini does the whole retro thing far far better under bmw's guidance. hide the badges on the fiat and it could be anything. its not a patch on the original that its inspired from. probably selling in bucket loads on the continent though......

I'd correct you there. The first new MINI as Rover contributed to it looked great, but the MINI mk 2 as was all BMW looks like a Chinese copy of the original. The 500 is quite cute but it's really a small amount of detailing that makes it stand out from the crowd. I think it won't take long for us all to get used to it and then suddently it's just another small car. Smarts still turn my head though.

It's a re-run of the original idea - when you could get a Cinquecento with either the short sunroof or a roof that rolled right back to the base of the rear engine cover.
