So Nissan is going for the "cheap entry price, expensive as hell upgrades" routine :(
A lot of hype around this car and as in anything that is hyped, there's also a lot of bovine manure...
Shame on them for asking for more than half the price of the car for a suspension and wheel upgrade! Even Porsche has cheaper upgrades than them...

I would try another tuner for cheaper up grades that are just as good, not to keen on the rims, or the tail pipes,
and thats a lot of cash wouldnt it be cheaper to wait for the V-Spec to come out!!!

I'm undecided about this. Its a shame getting a car this rare tuned because it messes with its original feel but then on the other hand it really turns it into a monster

Fairly expensive compared to buying equivalent parts but if you have the money, its always nice to have OEM stuff.
Those Rays wheels are gorgeous, and the exhaust is godlyness. Expensive but very nice.

one question mr "Yamamoto.. if i pay 35 grand for all those upgrades, will the car then make french fries for me?
September 1, 2008 10:52 pm
Mr Yamamoto:
No, but the erectronics systems on board wirr make sure you never spirr boiring oir on your rap whire frying :P
They wirr arso make sure you never get to fry any potatoes unress you are in the kitchen, because it's dangerous to fry potatoes in pubric!

Is it just me, or does the notion of minor weight reduction really make any sense in a car this large? There are going to be tuning firms bleeding hundreds more HPs from this power plant; EUR 35k is a ridiculous price for such upgrades. And, while the advanced struts would undoubtedly make this car even better mechanically, in my opinion, it barely matters, considering how much the computing power buffers the driving experience. Plus it still looks like a burn victim.

Ouch...that's some steep pricing for those tuning parts.
AMG Mercs are starting to look inexpensive if you compare these prices.
It's a shame that they are ruining the value for the money quotient that was so attractive for this car...that still looks like it was designed during origami class.

don't want to create a debate here but the price does sound a bit reasonable, why?
the suspension (not height adjustable, only stiffer dampening and harder springs at 181N/mm(18.5kgf/mm) front and 94N/mm(9.6kgf/mm) rear) is made from Bilstein Damp tronic (including Porsche's Damp tronic) which is already expensive anyway. Rays wheels are never cheap anyway, especially 20 inch (and Fr 1.6kg to Rr 1.4kg lighter than OEM) and any European car owner will realise run flat tyres are going to be more expensive than standard tyres, this comes to a total of 2,205,000 yen (about 14,000 euros).
carbon fibre seats at 1,890,000 yen (about 12,000 euros) for a pair of leather Recaro's weighing each at -6kgs lighter than OEM is ok, considering they're about the same price as other Recaro high end seats.
exhaust is titanium (5kgs lighter than OEM) and any titanium product don't come cheap too, especially when it includes carbon fibre rear defuser to accompany it which again costs 1,890,000 yen (about 12,000 euros).
warranty is 3 years or 60,000km which is great only if you're in japan... so if you break down the prices then it's sounds okay... btw, I round the prices up to the nearest thousand so it adds up even more than 35k euros

I wonder if the price will be lower if you order all these nismo parts with a brand new GT-R from a Nissan dealer............But it does beg the question: how do you justify paying 60% of the car's price on a few bits of performance parts? I cannot imagine how much Nissan would charge for the GT-R Spec V version.

U guys have to remember that everything is new here and new things are expensive. U remember when the 2gb micro sd card came out? everyone was buying them for over $50 now u can get one for $5. That price will not be there for long. Especially when the tuner companies get a hold of this car.
