Oh I agree, from a distance this is a really nice looking car, its just that it seems to show off to much, it doesn't have enough balls for what it's looks aspire to. And yes the amount of molding in the engine bay is horrendous, it isn't even engine covering molding, its molding to try and help make the engine look like it's cramped into a smaller space. This car needs/deserves at least a 6liter engine with 550+ hp before I will even consider it a super car. Until then it's a big heap of over hyped disappointment.

Joe if it had a 6L V8 making 550+hp it would no longer be GT3/GT2 regulation compliant as well as making the race car more expensive for teams, most importantly privateers, to buy into the R8 program. 500hp/2500lbs~ is perfect for this cars race class.

I am not talking about the GT3 race car solely, I am talking the R8 in general.

Fair enough, but with the V10 model coming and the TDI 12...it ought to alleviate your concerns, although they'll cost more.

If you have driven an R8 before, it doesn't need 550bhp, Its a beast, comparing to the ford gt which has a supercharged V8 boasting way over 500bhp the ford gt is very slippery and sluggish, the r8 sticks to the road god dammit and doesn't let go, it is a supercar, even without the BHP.

The Audi R8 weighs 3605lbs has and is awd and has 420hp. The Ford GT weighs in at 3485lbs is rwd and has 550hp. Due to the extra 120lbs, having 130 less hp, and having its power distributed over twice as many wheels, no sh!t sherlock of Course the R8 isn't going to slide out as much. The R8 is like the GTR, it eliminates the need for it's driver to have something called skill.

then your point on adding more bhp makes no sense, the gt is extremely wide and yet it still cannot tame its own enigine, what were ford thinking, they added the 550+ BHP to the ford so that people think its a supercar, horsepower isn't everything, they just piled on the power to make it LOOK GOOD. when it is just a sloppy design. plus the ford gt is heavier than the audi, audi chose that engine because it fit perfectly because the awd system fit perfectly and they came up with a smooth drivng car that can hit hard instead of just burning rubber in one spot like the gt.

my god your ignorant, I just gave you numbers, the Ford GT is lighter then the Audi R8. You can't win an argument on preconceptions you might have. The Ford GT is not a sloppy reincarnation of the original GT40, it has been modernized and actually has an interior. If you were to actually drive one you would be amazed by it's performance just as much if not more then by the under whelming power of the R8. What gets me the most is that this car is lighter more aerodynamic and has better handling then any of the 600+ hp german luxury sports cars yet you still accuse it of being sluggish sloppy and slippery. You sir need to grow some balls and admit that you are wrong, not just throw out insults and untrue statements hoping that you can win an argument.

I've been in the ford gt and the interior is pathetic, it looks good but it is uncomfortable, the ford gt I driven actually had a tape player lol, nice interior my ass. the R8 interior is ok, a bit compact, but its ergonomic, the seats hug you, the speakers are in the right place and the car isn't as wide as a bus. Ok another thing the gt has no traction control at all, even most of the leading supercars have tractional control. you are ignorant thinking that a car that has less horsepower is a shitter car, If you actually have driven the cars you would get a better picture.
