This Paris Motor Show commences in less than two months time and appearing at the show for its worldwide debut will be the highly anticipated 6th generation Volkswagen Golf. First official images have already been released but the one model in the range we haven't heard anything about is the GTI. Rumours in media circles state we could see a concept version of the GTI unveiled alongside the regular Golf MkVI in Paris and these latest shots caught by our spy photographer does little dispel those rumours.
We cannot confirm or deny a concept version will be unveiled, but with the help of these spy photos, we can report the GTI version is entering its advanced stages of development. The larger grille and air intakes can easily be spotted through the thick black clad camoflage on this prototype. But unfortunately we cannot see the expected Audi style LED headlights.
Previous reports have stated the new GTI will get a 2.0-liter turbo engine equipped with Audi's variable valve-lift system, it will pump out 211 ponies, 11 ponies more than the 5th generation model.
