hmmm interesting, im not sure i would call the interior stylish... and im very disapointed that they kept that ugly as hell rear end spoiler thing... i dont like the current prius and it looks like i wont like this one either...

I want to be first on line for this one!!! Hey, GM, where are you?
August 22, 2008 11:45 pm
Where is GM? Lost just like the 1970's all over again. Never had any good fuel mileage cars, muscle cars in the 70's and big trucks in the 2000's.
August 23, 2008 12:07 am
GM didn't get any help from the US Government!
"The Japanese government paid for 100 percent of the development of the battery and hybrid system that went into the Toyota Prius,"
...so says Jim Press, the highest-ranking non-Japanese executive at Toyota before leaving for Chrysler last year. You'd think HE would know something others wouldn?t...??

now thats a sweet look interior, almost give you the feel that it's a contect. Not digging the steering wheel though.

no matter what they do to try to improve the prius it will still be the most boring car in the market today tomorow and for ever.
August 23, 2008 2:57 am
Nice alloys...! But think I'd prefer a Golf GTi.
You know some Toyota's and Lexus' are fitted with a sleep warning device, in case the driver falls asleep?
...SUMS UP the Toyota driving experience :)

Really? See Bosch's take on Hybrids

...But in my home market there is a $35 dollar price difference between the cost of a top-of-the-range Prius and a Golf GTi.
For the money I would know which I would buy...

i think prius is built to be driven in a different way than the golf gti.it exists just to take people from one place to another in comfort consuming as less as possible. the gti and much more the m3 are built to offer driving pleasure, and these cases fuel cost is not a big issue. concerning the top gear video i suppose we cannot come in a clue by watching a prius being struggled to go fast in a track, sth it is not made to do.
August 23, 2008 7:11 am
The interior is straight from all those 90's films where th cars could fly. And its a prius so.. two reasons to hate it. Top Gear already proved that the new M3 has better fuel economy than the prius. CRAPPY CAR.
August 23, 2008 6:11 pm
Top gear make a false review on Prius vs M3: They put the prius at top performance. duhh!! of ourse is gona spent more gas! now, what they didn't do was to put the M3 at Prius normal ride...that would be interesting to see...specialy in city trafic!!!
August 23, 2008 9:44 pm
I prefer to be in M3 in city traffic anytime!
I can't just imagine my self in this Toyota Crap!
August 24, 2008 12:07 am
BTW: Toyota always try to improve they cars and make them a litle bit more futuristic at a time, specially the interior. others don't. More, german cars suck! they reliability are the bigest crap in the world, they (specialy VW) are getting even worse then French cars!
August 23, 2008 9:48 pm
it's pointless, pointless and pointless :)
and u are wrong about German Cars.
August 24, 2008 12:05 am
What are you talking about german cars are the most reliable cars in the world.
August 24, 2008 7:26 am
i wouldnt be intersted a tinyest bit in that kinda review. I just dont get why the prius is seen as such a good hybrid, it is full of crap. Hondas 2,2 litre civic diesel hybrid is alot better and it has a decent engine too witch doesnt make you insane because lack of power while driving. Or the golf GT it aint a hybrid but still has virtually same fueleconomy but accelerates in just over 8s 0-100km/h. So the prius has no real noticable
August 24, 2008 7:40 am
take that back about german cars! Audi Vw Porsche Bmw and more are all german- some german cars a bad, but the makes are brilliant! Audi R8-Golf R32-Porsche GT3 RS-BMW M3!
August 25, 2008 6:51 am
and the bugatti veyron is french- how is that worse than a golf????
August 25, 2008 6:52 am
lol! you are talking about super cars!! what they have to do with the Prius category? And yes german car have very bad reliability specialy de VW group (except the owner porche), if u don't belive search for the satisfaction report of the JD Powers in the last years...
August 25, 2008 9:33 am
is it just me or did the wheels get bigger??? the "old" prius had pretty small wheels and wheel wells... this new prius mule has much bigger wheels wells, no???
and to place the auto/CVT tranny into the center console instead next to the steering wheel is a good move, the old small handle was to small and kind of odd!!!
i hope the suspension gets much better and sportier and i might give it a second look... i test drove the latest prius in 2002 and loved the concept, but the ride and acceleration were huge trade offs....
August 24, 2008 2:46 am
I would prefer the old one that has a free space linking the dash and the centre console... now the new one looks cramped. nevertheless it looks ok IMO. still has that "Toyota" feel.
August 24, 2008 5:00 pm
I like the current one better. Seems more futuristic and unique. The new one could be the interior or any car.
August 24, 2008 5:47 pm
Are you kidding? the Current one's interior looks dated ever since it came out. only the gauges where futuristic. The new one's more modern at least.
August 24, 2008 7:22 pm
I like it, the last one had that lame profile with a peak in the middle. This one looks more cohesive from these shots. Plus the interior shows a more unified theme. My friend has a Prius, and the lame thing on the old interior was all the grey areas were painnted, so in no time at all they were scratched and marked all over the console. Hopefully this version will not use a painted interior. The only other thing I have to say is that a Diesel engine, or a Diesel hybrid is still a better starting point for two reasons: Better low-end torque and they can run on almost any fuel. The hybrid life-cycle is too mineral intensive; where are all the batteries going to go when they wear out? i guess the whole green-car-craze is a good place to start, it is better than doing nothing to reduce dependence on oil. Peace!
