EU Trademark office strikes again

Earlier this week we were able to show you the designs of the next generation Mazda3 after they leaked out from the EU Trademark office when the Japanese automaker was trademarking their design. Now it appears the same office has struck again, what we have here are a new set of simple design drawings of the Mazda MX-5 (also know as Miata). Modifications from the current model seem to have been kept to a minimum, so this can only be treated as a facelift rather than an all-new model.

Looking at the front fascia we can see a redesign has been ordered, the headlights will remain as they are, but the grille and fog light sport simple modifications. There are no signs of Mazda trademarking the design of the rear so we can expect this area to remain the same although are likely to see changes under the hood.

The facelifted MX-5 is likely to be launched sometime next year.

okay one leak is skeptical but 2?!! if this really is a second leak then the EU Trademark office needs to be shut down! designers have a hard time as it is for people ripping off their work without the body thats meant tobe helping protect them being unprofessional. but on the other hand its all a lie...

"the headlights will remain as they are" Headlights appear to be less rounded (slightly sharper corners?)

still looks like crap. Never been in favour of the miata. May be fast but still ugly.

miata fast? hmm not the ones they sell in Canada. Its agile since it's a small car but I would be very strained to call it fast or even quick.

fast stock, probably not, but I've seen a few modified ones and they pretty fast, maybe not enough to keep up with say a stock 350z.

I always liked the Miata all the way back to the first 1989 models. Its been steadily getting even better and nicer. The bumpers a nice flow from the current one and also has Mazdas current design language. The only thing i'ld say is to try and make the bumper lower or lower the overall height(stance-wise) of the car. Other than that, when this is released it should be pretty cool.

hmmm i like the fog lights not a fan of the new grill.. if my 06 mx5 had that face half my intercooler would be pretty worthless.. miatas well their quick but not fast but the'll leave every other car around that price range tailing on a mountain road
