Don't you love how they take Volvo's technology and spin it off like they invented it?

its good to see people sharing technology (even if it wasn't really... "shared" lol). Especially HELPFULY technology that'll save lifes. who cares

I wonder what models they will be offering it on, the s-class for sure. I hope this sytem is better than that garbage system lexus has.

i see it looks nicer than the one i saw in the camouflage. that one looked like a whale. hope this is not just a ....drawing. anyhow.....im wondering, does it detect what colour is my underwear, or if i even wear any..?

The S-class is due for an imminent face-lift so my guess is that this system will make its debut there.

Merc is very chinese - they like rip offs. Well done Volvo, at least know you know that Merc bought your car and thoroughly examined it.

Get a grip! They use the same supplier. No IP theft. It's just like DSC and ESP. Same s***, different toilet. Mercedes uses 2/3rds more ROM in their application.

you ought to say ... very American . the Yanks not only carted off Nazi Germany's entire war machine technologies after the war , they even hauled away Verner Von Braun's team of aerospace scientists/engineers back to the USA in order to beef up their own obsolescent military infrastructure . did i mention as well that the British were forcibly dealt with in the same manner by these Yanks as one of the conditions imposed by then President Roosevelt before the US commited itself to helping the UK fight the Axis powers ?

ah yes but the winners always right the history books, so even though that may be true, you are still insulting the "hero's".

wisp , it might interest you to learn that Daimler Benz FREELY ALLOWS its safety design patents to be used by other car manufacturers for the simple reason that vehicle safety measures can only be as completely effective if the other car is equally protected in the same manner . DBs case in point : what good are a car's anti-lock braking system if an opposite incoming vehicle was not equipped in the same manner ? car A might be able to evade the collision but car B is sure to hit car A just the same because it didn't have ABS .

the point here is that China is always being conveniently pointed at as the perpetrator of ripoff technology but accusers regularly forget that " human rights champion " who actually started off the biggest design knockoff of the century .

Well, This is German technology that helped and helps you until today , stupid Americans !!
August 12, 2008 7:18 pm
well done volvo...uh yeah...in 5 years they won't even exist. volvo must been doing something right! we have geniuses that post up here!
August 12, 2008 7:38 pm
OMG, THIS ISN'T VOLVO'S TECHNOLOGY! Volvo gets it from the same place Mercedes gets it from. Mercedes' system is just a bit more advanced because they took more time in R&D; its been in the works for almost 7 years now. If I'm not mistaken, this is a Bosch system. That means BMW and the entire VW Group will be using it soon also. (If they're not already) As the components get cheaper who knows where the proliferation will end.

S class is nice but E-class still be a "turckish dream" not a serious car.
