Back of the vehicle is just RETARDED. It looks like futuristic prototype of a car from a B rated comedy movie in the 70's.
Hate the grill as well. Not in very good proportion with the headlights.
I thought Mercedes-Benz's design was going down. But Mercedes-Benz is very handsome in comparison to Acura. Acura's really going down with its design language.

Right, the back looks way too chunky! That's the word I was looking for.

NOOOOOOO!! The old TL, even though it was the old Accord, was still one of the best looking cars in the segment! And they expect this pile of **** to sell better than the old? And NO manual gearbox? Acura should be emulating Audi, but instead they're emulating Ford/Lincoln/Mercury.

Its like the return of the 745. Everyones gonna love it, or everyones gonna hate it. No gray area. Me, I have to see it in person before I can truly judge it. But it doesnt look positive...

Ehhhh; not a great successor to the previous TL. I think they went a little too overboard on the design here. Too much going on with the exterior and I am not really fond of that grill/bading. The only nice thing about this car is the interior; I love the interior (black of course).
Over-all though; after seeing the new TL, I am disappointed with Acura's new line-up of sedans. The only vehicle I like now is the RDX. Looks like I am going to start looking at Infiniti.

I would rather get the new Maxima or wait for the g37 4 door. They are sportier, are faster, probably cheaper and are so much better looking than this ugly/retarded looking design. even the interior is questionable.

u'd actually buy the even uglier maxima that just came out??? that's even worst than this. this at least has proper headlights haha (compared to the strange headlights found on the maxima). id definitely take a G37 over this though.

I saw the maxima up front at a show in May. It looks good in person. Its sleek and sylish. Its more of a proper front wheel driver than the TL. If you think about it, would you get the Maxima or fork over $10k more to get this ugly thing?

looks like the Maxima and id rather have a Maxima price and performance wise.

The design is a little confusing and still seems to lack some balance. I've given some time after the first impression, but to tell you the truth, I see a Toyota Camry with a larger grill and a sunk in trunk door. I've owned several Acura's in the past and loved them all, but some of their recent designs have me scratching my head. I'm beginning to miss their "conservative" approach to style.

lol exactly what came to mind! but i do enjoy complicated center consoles. This way i dont have to worry with passengers fiddling with buttons, cause they wouldnt know what the heck they would be doing :D
But i have to agree the rear is ... disappointing looks like a bigger civic si end... why didnt they just carry over the prev gen TL rear and improve upon it?

In other news the product of the Camry, Maxima, and Saturn orgy came to light today...
Lol, come on you guys we have to give them credit for being different... and thats about it...

the front end in lovely... i like it alot but i cant say as much for the rear that is just horrid
August 11, 2008 8:42 pm
It just seems that all Japanese carmakers are coming out with more futuristic, unique-looking cars. At least the people at Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, etc... are coming out with designs that are different, even though people today may not accept it too well.
I personally think it's a bit odd (the rear) but it still looks good.

audi destroy this car with front-trak front wheel drive. sorry japan
August 11, 2008 10:01 pm
The Nissan V6s are a fine engine ( with heaps of technology direct injection and VVLT etc) and nissan front wheel drive models handle extremely well like the primera, sentra and maxima with the new chassis with the engine sitting further back over the front wheels to give a better weight balance ratio expect them to be even better, Nissan and many jap car manufacturers are making huge leaps and bounds these days
August 12, 2008 9:45 pm
Gosh, I hate to be the a-hole that bursts the bubble (not really), but, VQs arent direct injected (at least not in the US). Its good old fashioned multiport. Check how low (comparatively) compression ratios are.

And this is where I speak up:
I am so saddened that another "performance" sedan will reach the North American market without the option of a manual transmission.
Does everyone on this side of the world have only one leg? No. So, why do those who have a pair of working legs and a love for driving in a relatively pure form be punished with automatic after endless automatic?
I am thoroughly and utterly disgusted with the idea that I have one less vehicle to choose from simply because it does not come with a manual transmission.
The days just got a little darker...
August 11, 2008 10:24 pm
The nissan 4 cly engines are direct injected as well, i know some one with a primera 2001 and it has the 1.8l direct injected with a DSG gearbox not bad for under 10g.
August 13, 2008 8:48 pm
only automatisch offered. maybe these guys think they are selling a mercedes
August 11, 2008 10:32 pm
yeahh maybe but mercedes still offer a manual in some of their cars...
August 12, 2008 6:53 am
