Team Kia Engineering is busy in the American desert. Earlier today we posted spy photos of the all-new second generation Kia Sorento, and now another prototype has caught the lens of photographers, but this time it's something more significant. This unknown vehicle was first caught on the streets of Korea last month but has since been identified as Kia's new luxury sedan, code named VG.

Despite some Internet chatter identifying this prototype as Kia's version of Hyundai's rear-wheel-drive Genesis/BH platform, Kia code named CH, general consensus seems to settle on the VG platform which is closely related to the full-size Hyundai Grandeur/Azera (in North America) sedan.

From the images we can make out some upscale details such as projector headlights, LED taillights, and rear fascia integrated exhaust pipes. The front-wheel-drive VG is expected to receive Hyundai's 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter Lambda V6 engine. Market launch will be August 2009.

Whats with everyone and these knock off luxury cars? If I'm going to shell out the money I'm going to be a REAL luxury car, not a Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, or Kia.

Please define "REAL luxury car" so we know what you're talking about.

That's the point of these cars...you don't have to shell out the money to get some decent kit in your car.

It's like flying Economy Plus on United...

Ok, let me clearifly. A REAL luxury car is a car that is not really another car. Case in point, the Lexus ES is a Toyota Camry, the Infiniti QX is a Nissan Armada, the Acura MDX is a Honda Odyssey (and many other things). They are not luxury cars. The Mercedes C class is really... no, wait, the C class is a REAL luxury car, not a normal car w/ leather, wood trim, and a meaningless badge. Do you see my point? And schizo0223, Im not sure what you mean, the Lexus costs as much as the Mercs...

I like how you use Japanese cars only. So according to your logic, Bentleys and Audi are just Volkswagens, so therefore, Bentleys and Audi are not real luxury cars. And a Phantom is really just a BMW. And can I ask what separates 'real' luxury cars from 'fake' luxury cars in terms of packaging and features? Your claims are outrageous. People buy cars for the packages and features they offer more than for the badge that is stuck in the front.

And look up the Hyundai Eqqus/Dynasty/Grandeur, and the Kia Opirus. Korea has been building luxury cars for much longer than you probably know about (some of them have even been stripped down to be sold in other countries), so stop being so ignorant and get your information straight before you make absurd claims.

"I like how you use Japanese cars only"- RS5 Fair enough.

The Lincoln Navigator is a Ford Expedition The Cadilac Escalade is a Chevy Tahoe The Volkswagon Phaeton is a Audi A8 The Bentley CFS is a Audi A8

I don't really consider the Royces here because there still are many differences, yeah, them too.

"And look up the Hyundai... Korea has been building luxury cars for much longer than you probably know about... so stop being so ignorant and get your information straight before you make absurd claims."

Well sir/mam they wouldn't fit my descrion now would they? And I'm in AMERICA, so of corse I don't know about these cars.

Kia and Hyundai have been building luxury cars for years although they might not have been sold in the US or wherever you live. What's wrong with trying to expand their companies overseas?

An immanent part of luxury in accord of the meaning of the word itself (Italian "LUSSO") is a presence of enlightened spiritual existence or cultivated recognition of divine if you like. Europeans call it "culture". Could anybody enlighten me what the hell could be common part shared between traditional meaning of luxury and far East scabious industrial itch.
