Mercedes E-Class Spy Photos Give Another Glimpse at Display Screen
2010 Mercedes E-Class navigation screen spy photos / AUTOMEDIA

Since last months E-Class wagon spy photos showing dual fog lamps and partially uncovered front fascia, these latest pictures show the E-Class covering back up with the same heavy camouflage as before. However, one shot shows the huge center display screen, most likely snagged from the S-Class, which is now located in the upper dash panel instead of the lower center console. Despite the new glimpse, this isn't the first time we have seen the angular hooded screen dash.

Just out of view is the new steering column mounted gear shift lever which no longer occupies the center console. Ironic, since BMW moved the gear shift lever from the steering column back down to the center console in the new 7-Series.

The 2010 E-Class which is expected to make its debut in Frankurt next year will offer a wide selection of engines, ranging from a 4 cylinder petrol engine with 184 hp up to an 544 hp V8 as well as diesels ranging from 136 hp 4 cylinder to a 354 hp V8. However, customers will have to wait for a hybrid version for another year. According to insiders, in 2010 the E-Class is going to be available as the E 300 Bluetech hybrid which will receive power from a 3.0 litre 224 hp V6 and a 15kW electric engine with an integrated start generator.

Look at last image! Central part of GLK interior is clearly used in E-series.

The front end of the car is going to look really sweet. The hood is one of the best Merc has created in a long time. I'm worried about the headlights—will they be too Lexus-y? The side and rear view are going to be very good as well. I'm not as fond of the interior, though. I don't like the shapes and the angles. It's like a retro version of the S-class interior, only without the enchant of a retro design, and without the classy and stylish look of the S-class.

The W204 C class is a good start at MB returning to the 80's 90's MB's. It is a huge improvement over the old W203C. I can't wait for the new E to come out...

Wow, I haven't seen the exterior sans-camo, but the interior looks exceptional! The design is (for lack of a better word) "interesting". I don't know how I feel about that yet. But materials quality looks first-rate. It appears a lil better than current S-class. I doubt its GLK parts-bin. GLK borrows heavily from the C-class. This will show what the upcoming S-class interior update will be like.

Difficult to tell from this angle. All you can see is the wood trim, a few vents and the display. More S-Class than C. Will have to wait and see. Gonna be interesting to see the final product. Can't wait

And from what have you BabyMilo concluded that the build q will b great, and bad on the Opel Meriva. Some people would say that Yugo is an awesome car if somebody stuck a BMW badge on it!!! Merc is Merc but this is just one test model...

the only thing they can now ruin is the rear, there is no clue about it at all, but i hope it will not remind the CLC as it appear to under the camo

Very promising. Like many M-B admirers the world over, I have been yearning for a return to traditional (i.e. 1980s) standards of Mercedes design. As Schizo0223 rightly said, the W204 suggests that Stuttgart is once more on the right path. I can't wait to see the finished W212!
