General Motors will be introducing an all-new ‘people mover’ for the 2010 model year. As dictated by UAW contracts, the Delta-based MPV will be built at GM’s Hamtramck, Michigan, plant alongside such future vehicles as the Chevrolet Volt and next-generation Malibu.

Codenamed MPV-7, this new ‘people mover’ will be closely related to the next Opel Zafira, although it will be unique with a boxier and more masculine look compared to the sleek European designed Zafira. Interior will also be unique to the Chevy.

It has been speculated that the Saturn brand would also receive a badge engineered version of the front-wheel-drive MPV, but not right away as Chevy has dibs.

The new Chevrolet MPV will offer seating for either five or seven passengers depending on the options and packages that the customer chooses.

We’ll be seeing much more of the new MPV as it gets closer to production in 2009.

So they are using the name of a defunct Mazda? How about some originality? Shouldnt that be Ford's job? What a piece of junk.

I believe "MPV" here is not used as a model name, but as a vehicle type. Its actual name hasn't been revealed yet, so for now people just call it a Chevrolet MPV or the Delta-based MPV.

MPV by the way means "Multi-Purpose Vehicle".

PS: A new "Mazda MPV" van exists in Japan, its also exported to Hong Kong as the Mazda 8.

PS: The term "MPV" or Multi-Purpose Vehicle is more commonly used in europe, this is basically a minivan. Mazda just used it as a name for their minivan.

Yea, thanx AG4, i figured it meant that(MPV) and that it was a model type. I wasn't sure though cause i remember them dropping the actual name Lumina nameplate after a few years unless im mistaken.

Xanavi sorry to hear about your brother dude, as for this ugly beast I think they should do everyone a favour and sell it with the camo on. what a piece of GM JUNK, LOL they just lost 15.5 BILLION, I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS THING WITH MY LIFE!

Theres not much to be sorry about, he likes the truck itself and ive driven an even lower model than what he has. Its a good van because it drives like a truck sorta...but due to GMs cheap building it has a smaller engine than the FreeStar Ford but it burns virtually as much gas...so thats the main problem, the damn thirsty engine.

Whats ugly is the camo... because 95% of the car is covered in camo.

I was under the impression GM was getting out of the minivan (the MPV term in the states) market because the segment had piqued and most folks don't want to be seen driving them anymore. I had read that the Traverse was the vehicle to take the place of GM's Uplander minvan. GM never has put forth a decent effort in this segment IMO. The uplander is ugly and the available engines has never compared favorably with any of the competition. Judging from the rear-view mirrors, this does look like a new vehicle. Maybe GM is going for a big improvement in design and quality like they did with the Malibu with this vehicle.
