your forgetting that the US prices are without tax!!!
the EU prices are ALWAYS WITH TAX!!!
August 1, 2008 6:33 pm
which leaves the EU prices with a VAT of 19% @ US$38.5k...!!! US prices with an average sales tax of 6% roughly @ $35-36k... that's a $3k difference... in perspective not too bad...
if you import from the states to europe you have to pay 19% import tax and 10% customs, 29% would make it more expensive than the EU buy...!!!!
i hope the EU import tax of 10% for cars gets scraped ASAP!!!!

Good point, i should have mentioned Denmark at ?60,000 for the base Avant instead. :D

What's funny is the price will come out to the MSRP the Yanks used to pay before the price cut. Not too shabby! However, can Audi start bringing down the maintenance costs too? They are still a nightmare, otherwise I would be driving an Audi instead of this 328i.
I truly would love to own an Audi. I loved these cars since they were called "Auto Union". I am just glad they still kept the Auto Union symbol.

I have owned many a Audi bmw and benz. Audi is no worse and in some cases superior to the others so please with the trash talk.

Trash talk? No one is bashing Audi as far as I can see. I think they are great costs! Just the maintenance hurts.

heh, in Poland this car cost 65.000 USD for base model. Hmm.. Something about hundret months of work. People form US don't know how big present give him Audi.

Compared to Australian prices you're all getting a good deal ... here the cheapest A4 sedan is a manual 1.8 T starting at $51,000 plus another $2500 in taxes and on road costs ... and that's before you add a single option (there is NEVER one for sale without several thousand optional extras to be paid for)
The one I test drove two weeks ago with just four options (comfort package, metallic paint, alloys, sunroof) was more than $69.000 drive away price.

Ouch. But then again, cost of living here in the US is starting to go up. Cars may be cheap, but the other amenities we have here cost a fortune to outweigh the costs of cars. But then again, Europe and other parts of the world really tax their citizens hard to even afford to live.

OUCH is right ... and do you realise that the Pontiac G8GT is $10,000 cheaper in the USA than it's equivalent here in Australia ... even though they're all built here ... how does that work, the shipping cost across the Pacific reduces the price??? CRAZY !!!

That is indeed interesting!!! But when it comes to automobile tax, India takes the cake. Here, a Merc S350 costs as much as an S600. And a BMW 320i costs as much as a BMW 730i!!!

Thats what Im trying to get across Audi's maintenance is not any worse than any other company_ can you hear me! THats what Im saying you probably are just another bmw blogger who doesn't nor has ever owned an Audi. I have owned many of them and the maintenance is comparable and sometimes even superior to a comparable model from BMW or Mbenz. How is it you say you owned what one Audi and it was such a nightmare but I have owned nearly 11 and not one bad apple? hmmmmmmmm I wander maybe you are a big fibber.
August 4, 2008 3:34 pm
How can you own "nearly" 11 Audis ? ... is that 10 or is it 12 ?? ... or a number not quite as near as that lol
August 5, 2008 12:24 pm
By the way ... I currently have "nearly" one Audi and "nearly" one BMW in my garage and love both of them equally ... my experience is that the Audi maintenance generally costs around 50% more than for the BMW, but that is largely down to the rip off over charging by the Audi dealership.

My family has has 14 total Audis ( 8 were modified ralley coupes) in the last 20 years or so plus one I drove that was a hand down ( 2004 s4 ) that was never in my name. We have also owned 2Mbenz and 7 BMW's . And you can play the rhetoric game as much as you like but your still full of crap on the maintenance. No single person I know who buys BMW would buy an Audi. And your still the same moe who who happens to have an Audi that is 50% more maintance than his BMW. Your a liar dude and any one who really owns an Audi will agree. It's always the same post over and over ...get a clue. ( I guess all the people I have dealt with that owned an Audi that wasn't run to death had a magic fairy bless their car) Maybe you should look for your magic fairy if you were a nicer person maybe she would wiggle her wand and poof your Audi would be a real Audi for once.

metatron ... are you old enough to actually own a car yet? ... nobody I know over the age of 15 would ever contemplate using the word "dude" ... let alone use a sign in name from a children's video game ... I think you may have exposed your secret ... also if you were old enough to vote you would possibly be experienced enough to know that variety is the spice of life and not everything is decided by taking the lowest cost option ... I DO have "exactly" one Audi and "exactly" one BMW parked neatly side by side in my garage and I DO enjoy both for what they are ... and the driving experience IS quite different ... I think that one of us is not telling the truth but it's not me !!!

I have had a couple of Audi's, A8L and S4 Cab. Both ran great and were wonderful cars. Teh only issue i have here in San Diego is the dealers look like really bad used car showrooms. When u compare to the M-B, Lexus, BMW etc, with their sleak new showrooms and fancy waiting rooms as well as great staff, it makes it harder for Audi to compete.

Thats quite funny Davie your obviously a BMW owner because I know people who are multi millionaires have multiple degrees, royal pedigree's and use the word DUDE quite often. It is an endearing term for guy friends who are comfortable with each other and also for people who take life laid back, one relaxed moment after another. Now as for Metatron you are not quite as sharp as you think and you may want to review a word's spelling or maybe google a word before you jump to conclusions about my age. I actually have quite a bit of worldly knowledge under my belt and I still say 85% or maybe higher of BMW owners are obnoxious and do not buy Audi's to park beside their new BMW's in a garage or under a tree. And to top all this off Audi's are just as reliable and even better built than a comparable BMW and more comfortable. ( And since you are a BMW owner I will assume you are over 55 so you may not know what Google is so I will define Metatron for you!
METATRONMetatron (Hebrew ?????? or ???????) is the name of an angel in Judaism and some branches of Christianity and Islam. There are no references to him in the Jewish Tanakh (Old Testament), Christian Scriptures (New Testament), or the Quran. Although he is mentioned in a few brief passages in the Talmud, Metatron appears primarily in medieval Jewish mystical texts and other post-scriptural esoteric and occult sources. In Rabbinic tradition he is the highest of the angels and serves as the celestial scribe, though there is no consensus as to his genesis, nor is there a Christian consensus on his position in the hierarchy of angels.[1]
