BMW has announced 2009 model year updates for the BMW M3 sedan. Coinciding with the recently revealed 3-Series sedan facelift, the M3 will follow suit with matching LED rear lamp clusters plus modifications to the bumper and rear lid.

The interior receives new air vents located in the centre of the cockpit, a newly designed storage area under the armrest on the centre console, pearlescent chrome light switch cluster, new start/stop ignition button and rotary controls for the air conditioning.

Starting in the autumn, all M3 variants will be equipped with crash-active headrests that reduce the risk of cervical injury in the event of a rear end collision. Also, more choices of exterior colours will be available including grey metallic for the M3 sedan and all new Le Mans blue metallic (pictured above) for the whole range.

damn... i just saw one of these on the street, both the coupe and the sedan M3. and the sedan is the biggest "sleeper" i've ever seen lol. I was like wow just another 3 series sedan, but then i saw the hood bulge, and the exhaust and the rims, and i was like waiitt a second :P. the coupe is just obvious, but the sedan is a very nice sleeper car.

I still do not like how they increased the wheel base on the M3. Meh. I'd buy it used after 3 years than to buy it now. I think the market value in 2010 or 2011 is a perfect price for the car now.

Just my opinion.

Cheers!

As an avid BMW fan for as long as I can remember, BMW's new design language physically pains me...The E46's and E90's didn't look bad from any angle...the new 3 and 5 series look good from very few. Also it seems that the cars that were once for driving enthusiasts are now more for status-hungry ppl that care more about how a car makes them look than how it goes around a corner.

Dudes, stop whining about the looks, this is an M3, all that matters is under the hood! Any M enthusiast should know that...

Sorry, didn't mean to post my previous message as a follow-up, I wanted to say I agree with you on the fact that the old Bimmers were a bit more eye friendly but I decided to change the comment and forgot to go back and post it as a normal message.

OMG, the bmw m3's V8 is one of the best in the world, I went to the mountains in one, the engine is perfect, the car looks mean too.

Umm, at this point I can't see the differents atm on the coupe. I don't really like the sedan's tailights either.

I hate when they have a facelift! It really makes the pre-facelift owners angry since the gap is very small for the facelifted cars to be released. I think BMW thinks the car is a belanguered supermodel because it constantly needs a facelift.

Um yep, I'm sure I beleive you that you owned 7 cars in probably the last 4 years. that is impossible unless you easily sold all your cars and you have an extremely high wage.

Facelifts are frequent because we absolutely love keeping up with the Joneses. Those who can't keep up buy audi, because it is an overpriced vw, or a porsche, whose classic design means that its museum only needs one car because after you've seen one...

HA! even though i actually agree with you on that, it won't be long until some tryhard comes along and says "oh no no no! the 997 porsche 911 has a wheelbase that is 96mm longer than the 995 and they dont share a single body panel and it was redesigned from scratch as a whole new car and it pushes out 0.9 bhp/ton and..." lol audi are a bit better, but thats a bold statement there, mate.

kimbo, the article is about "2009 BMW M3 Sedan", not the new LMB. if you are so correct, why not a picture of a 'pearlescent chrome light switch cluster' as the top photo?

Whingers for ever. I do not see anything wrong with facelifts. BMW's facelfts are better timed than Audi overstated facelifts (A4 = 3 to 4 years old before they released a new A4 the siso called size of an A6 - silly big lie), A3 hatch back had the current S3 tail lights and a smaller grill before they implemented the big grill and current normal A3 headlight this within a year of releasing the A3.

this all comes down to BMW having too many followers with some being fans and others hyenas.

What is that lump on the nose? A bad nose job. BMW making their cars UGLIER every year.

That "lump" is there so the V8's intake manifold can fit under the bonnet.

How anyone can call this car ugly is beyond my comprehension.

Hey wisp...why are you always bad-mouthing Audi's?

pzigly
August 3, 2008 11:29 AM
because they are heavy over priced volkswagons. I can get a G35 for the same price as an a4. The g35 has 100 more hp, faster, more reliable and less boring. o ya and you actually get some nice options in the G35 unlike audi.

Other than the questionable lower intake on the front fascia the give the impression of a smile, I think BMW has a winner here. I'd even call it conservative styling, there's nothing ugly about it imho.

No i bad mouth the A4 coz it's a cheap rip off the A5/S5 (best Coupe in my books).

New m3 sedan already. Nothing but bad timing. I've hardly seen any m3 sedans on the road. BMW is idiotic. It probably didn't forsee that the timing of a facelift of the sedan and the release of the pre facelift m3 would overlap. Just too busy focusing on coming up with ridiculous new cars and diluting their brand. Pointless to turn it back on Audi.
