i'd buy a ford over a general motors car anyday and i've always said that. However, i've noticed in north america (i'm in canada), that ford's are ridiculously over priced, and i'm betting this car will be over priced too if it comes to canada. i checked a convertor for currency and that starting price is approximately $23,941.51. Yes it has ridiculously good fuel economy, but for a 1.3 litre diesel engine?? come on now. Very good car non the less on efficiency.

These cars aren't built by Ford in the US, they're built somewhere in Britain, Hungary, Poland, etc.
Labor there is in EUR and converting that to USD bumps up the price. Add the shipping costs to that and voilla, you got yourself a very expensive little Diesel engine.

Britain doesn't have the Euro, thanks, it would be in pound sterling. We have the highest car prices, everyone knows that cars are cheaper in North America than Europe anyway not just because Sales Tax is less, if or when Ford sell the Fiesta/Verve in the US or Canada I can guarantee you it won't cost nearly $23k, more $15k.

I suppose Hungary and Poland use Pounds as well...
More cars are manufactured on what you call "The Island" (Europe) so trust me, you might pay in Pounds, but labor cost is calculated in Euros.

hmmm i dont know it seems like a low spec fiesta with a green engine in it... i dont mind the idea of the green engine but i think they should have it as an engine choice on all the models in the fiesta range and not just in one car...

Great looking car! Just those wheelcovers ruin the style. They are probably for less weight and less emissions.
