i don't care how green they are. their ugliness is doing enough harm to the planet to undo it all

Now let's see how many cars they sell to see who does worse for the environment...
I have a hunch Porsche is not the main threat...

"...BMW future plans include NOx storage capability within a catalytic converter" I'm not sure I like this. More to do for each service interval, cleaning the catalytic converter. Really wish they wouldn't go this route.

I bet some people thought the same when the cat was introduced, but it actually required no maintenance. additionally, most cars that have particulate filters have the ease of replacement as a fundamental aspect of their integration. with service packages that cover maintenance and labour, i doubt there will be much incremental cost.
it's great that BMW are leading the way, whilst still producing fantastic cars, shame people can't see beyond the cover, stupid people that is.. who are most likely unable to afford a decent car.

hmmm interesting.... well done BMW it is inetresting that BMW are the greenest and not lexus with all their hybrids...

unfortunately, none of hybrid (gasoline) cars can beat diesels when it comes to low fuel consumption.

Well done BMW, for once again raising the industry notch. Hope others will follow shortly. And it's not about the amount of cars sold to the public, it's about the progress and technology that other manufacturers are only bragging about it.... "Vorsprung durch Technik"..yeah right.

oh what a cliche it is to hate bmw styling. sadly, it would seem for all everyone's complaints on how bimmers look they still outsell the rest of the premium market.
oh, and you cant exactly include porsche. correct me if im wrong, but theres not a single diesel or hybrid yet on their range?
July 22, 2008 8:12 am
i dont think that there is currently a diesel porsche but i think that a diesel cayenne is coming

Lucifa thank you. The best products always generate such high levels of drug enhanced adrenalin such that people pass diffrent statement good and bad. It just goes to show that BMW is certainly doing something very right that the others are not. Good or bad press = Insurmountable exposure of the product. This is smart advertising by BMW - simple but very effective and reflective in their sales figures. Go figure...
