overall the proportions give this car potential to be the nicest looking economy car I have ever seen. But the headlight/brake light sets just look like a last minute add on. If they blended into the car better this car would be gorgeous.

It needs the Type R -style headlights! Or to be more specific, the area between the headlights...

Audi R10 is a diesel as well, and look how it performs against its petrol-running counterparts!

So, if there's a diesel out there winning races, does that make all diesels capable?

From Diesel point of view, they have more than potential to win over Petrol. If people say or doubt about Diesel, it means they are quite of outdate. With technologies today, Diesel is better and better. It was bad for Diesel concept in the past to be loud and polute the air more than Petrol, because the additional technologies of engine-control, high-precision machining and engjine-balance were not good enough to make Diesel concept a better solution than a Petrol.
Today, those technologies are here and they make Diesel a lot better than Petrol. High-efficiency, less-consumption and faster as well.
This is a point where Audi has a courage to say firmly, and here as well to Honda. I think Honda do the right thing just like Audi.

Type R has 215 Nm at 7000 rpm... for daily use, the diesel is a lot better.

This is supposed to be the reflected image of the Fireblade on 4 wheels, that is why this diesel does not fit in with the image!
1. Most important: it's the entry level as far as power goes.
2. Low-end torque is good for "daily drivers", but if you want to build a Civic in Fireblade's image, use a high-revving petrol.

Why not just buy a Fireblade for ?10000 , and then buy a second hand type R ?? ..

This generation of civic doesn't do it for me. The current civic type r is inferior in terms of handling when compared to it predecessor. I thought the whole point of a new model was to improve upon the last model!
I know this article is about the type s but the type r it supposed to be the cream of the crop. If the type r is inferior what does that tell you about the rest of the range!!

you've ripped your opinion stright from jeremy clarkson haven't you? tsk tsk. you should actually drive the car/s before you bag them out. they new (european) type-r may not have independant rear suspension but it does drive better than the old on on a real road. unless you're JC and you have an old WWII airfield to fling a car around in - you're not gonna have the luxury of doing powerslides across the width of a runway. and if you're desperate to have IRS then get the JDM type-r which is based on on the civic sedan which does have iendependant rear suspension.

this car is designed and made in the uk. Even japan don't want this POS.
July 20, 2008 4:50 pm
It was designed in Japan but manufactured by one of Honda's facility in UK.

I dont think its so bad, it looks pretty nicely shaped and designed, but i dont like the middle section of the front lights. As for the deisel, look at the price of gas around the world. Its good to have a car that doesnt burn much or goes far on gas. Hope they have other engines though.
Civic hatches would be pretty cool here.

Japan don't need it because they are designing their own. those JDM spec saloon type R's look awesome!
